Is there anything that hinders you from firing your sponsons first at full BS and then fire your ordnance weapon? Seems like an easy way around the rule.

Vehicles & Ordnance Weapons
Unlike other units, vehicles can move and fire with Ordnance weapons. However, a vehicle that fires an Ordnance weapon can only make Snap Shots with its other weapons that turn.

As far as I know if you fire your sponsons first at full BS you can't fire the ordinance weapon. It's pretty clear to me with how it's worded. It doesn't say about firing one before the other.

Being the proud owner of multiple LRBT's, I sadly have to agree with Gearhead It's either totally not allowed, or there'll be 20+ minute long arguments about it :c

If you fired your other weapons at full BS and then fire ordnance, you haven't "fired your other weapons at snap fire" and will be breaking the rules.

Ditto. Doesn't say anything about timing in the rule. If you fire the ordinance at all in the shooting phase, whether its before or after, then you can only snap fire. If it said "after the ordinance weapon has been fired you can only fire snap shots" then that would be different.

The only way around the Ordnance rule is to be a Super-Heavy Vehicle. Power of the Machine Spirit will let you fire 1 of your other weapons at full BS (so an Enginseer could allow a LRBT to fire its Battle Cannon and its Lascannon at full BS, at different targets too).

It might not be under the core ordinance rule, but it is stated, somewhere in the book, that if a unit fires a weapon at full BS, it can't fire an ordinance weapon at all that turn.

Yeah I am pretty sure he is correct. I remember seeing it somewhere but of course it isn't where you'd expect. Probably under the rules for assault or something.

When I opened this thread I thought it'd be the OP asking about making a vehicle a Superheavy or using special abilities...

No, he just wanted to know if there was a way he could cheat and justify it with "Well, the rules technically state..."

Stay classy Dakka.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Define cheating. Is it cheating to want to understand the rules?

It's all about the technicality.
