I've played this game VERY intermittently, never really paying attention to what was going on with the meta. Lately I've been getting my ass handed to me a LOT by my buddy who always plays Rebels and would like to even the score a little. If anyone could give me any advice on what works and what doesn't in the current meta, that would be fantastic. Here is my collection:

7 TIE Fighters
6 TIE Interceptors
2 TIE Bombers
2 TIE Advanced
2 TIE Phantoms
Slave 1
Lambda
Decimator

I would like to use ships from my entire collection, so pointers on any of the above are welcome. General advice and more specific information like what upgrades are good with what are all fair game. Thanks a lot guys.

Well, your options might be a little limited unless you have access to all the available upgrade cards, but here a few things for you to consider:

7 TIE Swarm (98 pts.)
  • Howlrunner + Determination + Hull Upgrade
  • Dark Curse
  • 5x Academy Pilot

  • 6 TIE Swarm (99 pts.)
  • Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics
  • Mauler Mithel + Swarm Tactics
  • 2x Alpha Squadron Pilots
  • 2x Academy Pilots

  • Chiraneau + Whisper (100 pts.)
  • Chiraneau + Expose + Ysanne Isard + Rebel Captive + Engine Upgrade
  • Whisper + Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloaking Device + Fire-Control Systems

  • Chiraneau + Echo (100 pts.)
  • Chiraneau + Push the Limit + Ysanne Isard + Mara Jade + Engine Upgrade
  • Echo + Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloaking Device + Fire-Control Systems + Rebel Captive

  • Whisper + Mini-swarm (98 pts.)
  • Whisper + Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloaking Device + Fire-Control System + Rebel Captive
  • Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics
  • 3x Academy Pilots
  • Side note: this is my preferred Imperial squadron

There are a few other lists that would work (Imperial Aces: Vader/Fel/Turr) but you'll need access to a wider pool of cards to get the most out of them.

I think that, for casual play, people tend to be pretty loose about using proxies/print outs for upgrade cards. Especially for something like Vader with the unreleased title and upgrade that everybody is so excited about, I imagine your friends will let you proxy them for now at least.

Oh I have most if not all of the upgrade cards, sorry I should have mentioned all the Rebel ships I have as well it's just that I regularly play imperials lol. Thanks for the list ideas, I see I'm not alone in my love of swarm tactics!

No worries, those are probably the best lists you can make with the ships you have. There are a couple of other options like running multiple Lambdas (Stress Cows!) or an ordinance list full of TIE Bombers.

Swarm Tactics is okay... I include it instead of something "better" just for an initiative bid. Since Howlrunner will be the primary target in your mini-swarm, you could give her Hull Upgrade for extra HPs instead and it will bring you up to 99 points.

I can't wait for the Imperial Raider... Vader with 3 Tie Advanced will be a very nice squad. I'm hoping that one of the new pilots also has an EPT, for squad leader.

There is a nice little mission on the FFG that had helped me a lot with learning how to arc dodge with interceptors and phantoms. It calls for a YT-1300, but you can certainly substitute the Decimator. The goal is to be always rolling 4 green dice on your arc dodger by making them shoot through an asteroid or at range 3.
It also trains you to not trust green dice.
