So im a new player and i have become enthralled with the idea of a blood angels JP based army supported by skiitari ranger snipers. Is this a feasible idea?

absolutly, assuming those Skitarii don't have any special weapons, you could deployed 2 squads of 10 for a pretty low cost and thus have LOTS of room for your blood angels

i was planning on sniper rifles with a possible anti vehicle weapon in case they kite or tie up my blood angels after initial cc. The idea bein that the skiitari colan focus down any scary cc guys or libbi or chaplain, leaving the fodder and shooty guys to get shredded by cc

I don't see why not. The issue with the Skitarii is that they don't have Infiltrate, and I haven't seen a transport option. Transports aren't as big a deal thanks to FA slot Rhinos and Razorbacks, but then you lose out on Scout, because I think that only confers to Dedicated Transports, not any old metal box they're shoved in. But, that is offset by Overcharged Engines during the normal game turn. I'd be worried about Jump Packs taking viable targets away from the snipers during the Assault phase.

And the Skitarii are only as durable as Scouts. Their actual sniper rifle with good range is very pricey, and precision shots isn't a be-all end-all. Could be fun though, but remember that you're combining gunline with fast assault. You might have to really work to make them synergize.

Hmmm. Yeah i see what you are saying. Im just finding it hard to find a decent sniper unit that doesnt cost a ton to field. I have noticed going through blood angels lists that they are a lil pricey point wise. My goal is to find long range support fodder for focusing down tough targets. Normally id look into just getting vehicles but im working with a low budget and so gotta tailor tactics. Plus i havent seen anyone do it so far so itd be fun running a tactic thats new

Snipers aren't a new tactic but they aren't done because typically they don't work. The 'hit on 4s, wound on 4s, no AP' is painfully difficult to get results with, especially when you need 6s to change that. Skitarii have decent guns though that don't NEED to snipe to be effective. That's a big Mark in the plus column. They can be effective by being 30" range and a Relentless/Move Through Cover platform. But if you want to focus down hard targets you're looking for Poisoned (2+), not Sniper or Precision Shot. That's via Sternguard. You might get that couple wounds on the Character of your choice with Skitarii but the ones you mentioned also got a Look out Sir of 2+.

Again, since this is all theory and comparing to other sniper builds I've done, I really enjoy my Eldar snipers despite them being kinda poo, the models might surprise us all in the right combinations. Don't let me discourage you from trying it out and telling folks your experiences about it. I might be trying the same thing to be honest.

I havent checked, but like i said, then goal is to either tie them up in cc with jp and pick guys off, or if they kite and go for the support i hammer the specialists while the fodder kill each other

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate the feedback. I thought itd be a cool tactic to run and will definitely give some feedback once i do run it. I just hate over reliance on vehicles since they tend to (in my experience) get focused down. Id rather have to slow hoof it and slowly pick em off at range while the cc guys rush in and ram face. I just keep getting a vision of a big hq murdering my cc 1 by 1 or tying them up so i thought long range gunfire might reduce that threat

I almost always take 1 unit of BA scouts with either 4 snipers and a ML or just 5 snipers. I don't expect much from their damage output, but snipers give range and they have scored more objective based VPs for me than any other unit. Infiltrate and scout is not to be underestimated.
Would I theme a whole army round them? Put it this way - I own 10 if you count the ML. That's 5 more than I'll ever use.

Snipers don't hit on 4+. They use normal BS. Skitarii guys have BS4, so thy hit on 3+
