Hello,

So after much experimentation I have come to the conclusion that I like the Ulthwe Eldar color scheme only in reverse. I'm personally a sucker for the fluff and really want an army that exists in the 40k universe. Is there anywhere in any of the fluff that could indicate that the Eldar would have variations on their armour colors? Or is there a lesser known craftworld that have bone/white armour. I noticed that the Mymeara wraithseer is in the color scheme I want yet the rest of the army is in a turquoise color scheme which I really dont like. I appreciate the help!

Maybe, just maybe, they could be changing the color for a war party, or the new color scheme is for a breakaway group. I'm not too well versed in Eldar Craftworld culture, so I could be brutally wrong.

Oh really have you read anywhere that there are breakaway groups or even undiscovered craft worlds?

Just say they sent their armor off to the painter and it came back in reverse, and they didn't have to file a complaint before a battle came

There are plenty of rogue eldar that left the craftworlds, and it is a chance, albeit slim, that enough rogues banded together to resemble something similar to a craftworld's strength.

Well, you could do it and it would work with the fluff.

In the fluff, the way Eldar are trained is that they go to a shrine where they train under a disipline such as becoming a striking scorpian, a warp spider, a dire avenger and such. These shrines all have their own unique colour scheme as they are not bound to the craftworlds colours, which is why you see dire avengers being blue in a red saim hann army!

However, forces that DO belong to the craftworld, that are not independant ( ones that do not have there own shrines and therefore are not dictated by the crafttworld ) such as Wraiths, tanks, guardians, farseers ect do have to follow the craftworlds colours.

Hope this helps dude!

The Iyanden supplement has a bit on each of the noble houses in Iyanden. The Wraithguard in each have slightly different colour schemes and iconography, but not as far as a reversed colour scheme.

Craftworlds that aren't described in the Eldar codices are most certainly a thing, since every now and then in a BL novel or some other snippet of fluff, a Craftworld will be named that's never been mentioned before. So in that sense, yes, there are "undiscovered" Craftworlds, and the fluff never mentions how many Craftworlds there are. I like to think there are hundreds. Still insignificant compared to the number of human worlds, but enough to absorb the casualties the fluff seems to like to dish out to them.

So I would say that a new Craftworld is probably the easiest way to go. Alternatively, you could go with some kind of Ulthwe army, but you'd need to come up with a good fluff reason for the reversed colors.

generally with MOST codices you can assume there are "unmentioned varients" out there. differnt craft worlds, differnt chapters etc. really the grey knights and space wolves are the oddballs in their uniqueness.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Indeed. There are the five big craftworlds - Beltane, Samhain, Ulthwe, Iyanden and Alaitoc. Then there are countless others - canonical examples are Il-kaithe, Mymaera, Lugganath, the Black Library, and many others.

A Craftworld that wears white armour with black masks could have chosen that colour because they favour hunting Necrons, perhaps.

You could do a renegade Eldar fleet, and also have a bit of iconography that is divergent from the actual Ulthwe scheme.

You could say they are some sort of special sub faction or task force of the ulthwe. A select group tasked to hunt down something or other and so have their armor painted in reverse in order to show they are part of this select group but still part of the Ulthwe.

Mmmm, or you could have an Ulthwe strikeforce discover an abandoned/massacred craftworld drifting in space and decide (for whatever reason) to recolonise it and send it on its way as a craftworld of its own. In honour of its founder, the new craftworld adopts the Ulthwe colour scheme, but in reverse.

Something like this, or maybe a Farseer or someone important died and it's part of a mourning ritual or something like that.
