Blackhearts Squadron

Hoping to get some pointers on this list. As I said in my other post I have limited upgrades and expansions to choose from: Core, most wanted, Firespray, HWK, y-wing and 2x M-3A.

Looking at this for a 100 point list:
Kath scarlet
Expose
K4 security droid
Mangler cannon

Hired thug
Agromech and either ion cannon or blaster cannon turret

2x Binayre Pirates

Other upgrades I like and considered:
Saboteur
Recon specialist
Y wing title
VI
Marksmanship
Protorps
HLC
Ion cannon
Stealth device
Outlaw tech

Any thoughts?

Expose doesn't fit, it's expensive, it uses an action to activate and won't be of any benefit if you want to shoot your cannon (as it only boosts primary weapon value.)

The K4 isn't bad, but usually you'll want to match upgrades that increase the number of greens on a dial with stuff that's going to incur stress, and nothing on Kath does. There are lists geared towards inflicting stress which it would help with, but otherwise it is limited.

I'm a fan of the Mango Cannon, but there's a strong argument for the outright extra firepower the HLC brings.

I'd probably go for blaster turret, warthog title and unhinged Astromech for the Y, and see if your friends will let you proxy in an engine upgrade.

But run what you like and see how it fits with how you like to play, learning is half the fun!

I looked at HLC too. Was leary of the 2-3 range, thought the mangler was pretty decent at all ranges.

What about using marksmanship in for expose?

Marksmanship is nowhere near as good as it appears.

You're paying 3 points for a Focus action that gives you one critical hit instead of one of the hits, and has no defensive application. If you use the Mango Cannon, it is almost redundant.

Don't forget you're not obliged to use a secondary weapon, so if you equip the HLC and find yourself at Range 1 of your target, you simply fire you're primary weapon, which, being at range 1, rolls 4 dice anyway. On Kath, that means you'll always be rolling four dice, even on the secondary arc!

Revised the list:

Kath + K4 + HLC

Hired thug + title + unhinged + ion cannon

Looks solid. I'd still has reservations about the utility you'll get out of the K4 with only 4 greens on the Firespray's dial (that's the issue I've encountered) but it equally could make a game changing difference in the right game, so I'd try it and see how you get on..

I could switch K4 for a Gunner...

Gunner is seldom a bad choice.

HLC is a poor choice on Kath, you've paid the points to be amazing from her rear so paying out more to be good from the front to seems to be excessive.Unhinged astromech is great on a non-title B-Wing as those 3 Greens combined with a turret make it good for slipping around ship. Nothing wrong with the Headhunters.

With your collection I might be tempted to try

2xBinayre Pirates
Kavil with Ion Cannon turret, Unhinged Astromech & Veteran Instincts
Mandalorian Mercenary with Heavy Laser Cannon & Recon Specialist

I've trimmed the Firespray down as you lack several of the more choice upgrades for it so now it is simple and shooty, and upped the thug to Kavil so you can reliably Ion most small ships to line them up for the rest of the list.

You can't equip an Unhinged Astromech on a B Wing, was that just a slip and meaning Y?
