Title says it all. No one plays it where I'm at and I like the looks of the models and the QuickStart rules that being said Id have to be the one to convince others to play. I'm looking at the YU jing faction/army for myself as I like the way they look. Would it be worth me getting the 2 player set.

So, how does this work for you?

Yu Jing Starter Pack

The Zhanshis in this list are also Forward Observers, so they can all accomplish objectives.
The Celestial Guard in this list has Smoke Grenade Launcher, so he will work very efficiently for covering the advance of your troops.
The Shang Ji Invincible has also Medikit and that may make him a Specialist troop in some missions.
The Domaru is a demolishing CC troop. Try to make it reach base contact with the enemy and she will deliver a deadly blow killing both figures probably.

Spec Op (Replace on Zhanshi of the list with this miniature)

You will have 12 XP for spending in this guy. He will become the best specialist of your list. Alow me to recommend making him "Chain of Command", "Hacker" & "Engineer".

You awesome lietenant that will also bring to you an extra Command Token

Hac Tao with HMG

Also featuring with executive Command skill, if yout Lieutenant dies, this guy becomes the new Lt once he reveals himself out of Hidden Deployment!

Thank you for the input im currently reading the main rules. Are the ninja units any good?

Yes, they are very good. The sniper is somewhat pointless but the hacker & tactical bow seem to be bananas good for their cost.

If you want to play Yu Jing the only thing you get out of Operation: Icestorm is two starter sets for other people to get into the game. It can be good for demo-ing and generating interest if you're good at painting an army that isn't yours. If not it's better to just have one awesome army and convince others to start their own army to play against you.

Ok, first thing you need to know. Ninjas are all about make things difficult for the enemy. they roll for normal values, but the enemy usually have terrible negative modifiers against them. That is why they are good at everything.
Ninjas in Infinity are like invisible predators, like ghosts. They have the best skill in the game wich is TO Cammo. They can become a TO marker and surprise the enemy revealing themselves. It is a bit tricky to know how to use a Ninja list, but an expert player with ninjas is something you never want to face in a tournament.

How this might look like?

First we have the Japanese starter pack.

Keisotsus. Usual line troops. But in this army they are allowed to make fireteams and behave like a squad. you spend one order and they all move like a team. This is very useful for some missions.
Oniwaban. Deadliest Ninja.
Kempeitai. loose your Lieutenant? don't worry, the Kempeitai will become the new leiautenant instantly and your army wont suffer any side effects.
Domaru butai. Demolishing Close Combat guy, reach base to base contact and almost instant kill.

Shinobu Kitsune

Your Lt. best ninja ever.

Saito Togan

Mercenary Ninja

Ninja Hacker

This one will be more useful and valuable than the rest specially in missions.

Ninja Sniper

A pain in the ass for anyone shooting at her.

Just be aware that IF you start shinobu LT in hidden deployment, you WILL be in loss of Lt status (and chain of command will NOT kick in - it specifies dead or unconscious only). This means deploying her as marker at a minimum is needed in order to avoid LOL.
