I've been posting a lot of lists lately for a tournament I'm going to and I'm probably going to bring Nids as (A) I have the models ready and (B) I feel more confident with them.

This is the list I have planned for the tournament, thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Combined Arms Detachment
Tyrannocyte w/ Deathspitters = 75
Tyrannocyte w/ Deathspitters = 75

Hive Tyrant w/ Wings, 2x Devourers w/ Brainleech Worms, Electroshock Grubs = 240
Hive Tyrant w/ Wings, 2x Devourers w/ Brainleech Worms, Electroshock Grubs = 240

3x Rippers w/ DS = 45
10x Hormagaunts = 50
Mucolid Spore = 15

Venomthrope = 45
Zoanthrope = 50

Carnifex w/ 2x TL Devourers w/ Brainleech Worms = 150
Exocrine = 170

Imperial Bastion w/ Comms Relay = 95

I ran something similar in my last game and I like it, it just lacked mobility so the two Tyrannocytes should be able to do something. The Malanthrope I also brought did gak all again so I switched to the cheaper Venomthrope.

Why the 10 Hormagaunts? I mean what do you expect to get out of them. If you just wanted troop tax you could just opt for another spore and use those points elsewhere.

Bubblewrap purposes and to tarpit something if it looks dangerous, such as Legion of the Damned, IK, etc.

One of the Objectives will be the Relic and they would be my fast moving troops, so they could claim it. Then it's question of do you shoot the Relic holders or do you shoot the Flyrants

I'll look into other troops if they underperform though

I've never had any luck with such a small unit footslogging it around the board. When pretty much anything can deny you your 6+ armor save and at most get shrouded from the venomthrope if it can keep up, it still never seemed to work well.And as far as tar pitting goes 10 s3 t3 guys with barely any save isn't going to be able to tarpit for long and would just give your opponent a nice little break from the shooting phase. You could drop them and put in another venomthrope or zoanthrope. Or you could drop the bastion and add in more gaunts considering all your guys are going to need to move up the board anyway with all the short range shooting.

I guess I could drop the Hormies for another unit of Rippers and another Mucolid, changing the Zoey and Venom to a Malanthrope to make the points...

Bastion blocks line of sight so that they waste a turn shooting. The Comms Relay allow me to control reserves as almost 2/3 of the army starts in it

If you dropped the bastion and used HC on the tyrant instead, you could save a lot of points is what I'm getting at. I don't like using fortifications for tyranids because they tend to need to move forward and not stay in one place shooting across the board. I mean you're paying 95 points for what 20 points in HC could do.
