Hey mates. Was offered and I accepted 40x unbuilt Militarum Tempestus Scions by a friend of mind and seeing as the Militarum Tempestus Codex is more of a supplement, I am planning on using the Scion models as my Vets for my Mechanized Astra Militarium list, as I was part of a Mechanized Infantry Regiment when I served in the Army. That being said, I was wondering if you guys would think that would work, as the Scion models are just awesome looking and I wasn't planning on utilizing them as Storm Troopers with Hot-Shot Lasguns. Only thing I would do is remove the tubing/wire that connects the Hot-Shot Lasgun to the pack, as not only does it make it a pain of building the model, but creates lack of model converting and since I am running them as Vets, it will give the weapon more of a regular Lasgun look. Your thoughts?

I think it would but you would have to mix in some things from the shock troops like the guns

What makes you say that? The point of running the Scions as veterans is that since their vets, they have access to better weaponry so to speak. and I plan to cut off the tubing / wire that connects the hot-shot lasgun to the backpack and I think those could pass very well as well as a regular lasgun. Granted I will tell my opponent that they are just regular veterans and not Scions, but since I plan not to run any other Militarum Tempestus units in my list at all I think I'll be okay.

You shouldn't have a problem telling people that they are vets and then assembling them with any of the tubing.

Should be fine. as long as you are not running identical storm troopers as storm troopers near by

That is what I was thinking lol. However, what are your thoughts on me cutting off the wires from the backpacks and the Hot Shot lasguns? Reason for that is that I find it annoying that you have to build them a specific way in order for them to connect and I don't like that personally.

you can give the models to me

Beyond that, you could RUIN THE AMAZING MODELS by removing the wires to make regular lasguns, yes.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I agree that taking of the tubing would look fine. As an aside, back when hellguns were a thing (ap5 lasgun), the kasrkin models had tubes. Tubes could just mean targeting matrix for the BS 4 or something.
