So, i just started scratchbuilding my first Titan and it looks delicious... well, it looks like waffles =)

See for yourself:

and

Sadly there won't be much of the waffle look left, once i started to add plasticard =(

The structure on the styrodur looks a lot like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e0/P%C3%BCckler-Schnitte.jpg
Will update within the next days, then i'll have enough time to built the upper body.

What do you thinK? Feedback appreciated

greets, Nerva

So, weeks over and i got quite a few things done, the upper part is finished in terms of using that weird waffle styrodur stuff and next i'll begin using usual softer and non structured lol styrodur, for the missing shoulder parts and the two boxes on top.

The lower bodypart is now fixed and glued together, almost spent half a ton of superglue on that thing =)

Here are the pics of the progress:

This was a pain to get clean by sandpapering today

sandpapering the thing really did the trick and this is how it looks now:

fully(well as fully as i can atm^^) assembled:

Schedule for next week are the shoulder parts and the boxes, on top of him. Btw his name shall forever be "waffles" ! =D

Feedback appreciated,

cheers, Nerva

now this already is a respectable structure, the character of the final built is now fully imaginable...
i wonder how you cut the styrodr...do you actually cut all the way through? because, i see lots of ripped edges here and there... if you just use your knife for the first light cut and then snap and break it of you will get a way smoother finish instantly...

i also wonder if you might work easier with a different glue? the stuff that gets used for dry wall construction maybe? woudl be cheaper and would be easier to work with as it will be aplied by these big syyringes...

i am very eager to see how you will build up the plasticcard surfaces... and what glue ou will use... that is for me the crucial point...hmmm.... now that i think about it... maybe cradboard would do the trick too?...

anyways...good luck, cheers, vik

Usually lightly cutting and then breaking it is the way to go, but the weird structure does prevent that, glad i'm mostly done with the styrodor and can go on to plastic and greenstuff^^

SUper glue is awesome, cause it tends to just melt the surfaces together. It smell like a chem factory, but it does work amazing =D I think i know what you mean, the glue like mass that comes in pistols? That is something i could try, cause, superglue is not that cheap, though i could a great deal of 0,49€ per 3g package in a local store. Bought 20 packs and the cashier looked at me like i was about to built abomb or something xD

I'm not too sold on papercrafting, people can do crazy stuff with it, but i think i'm gonna stick with plastic, am already used to that.

Yesterday i've been able to start with the head, i first carved it with styrodur, then added the plates, some cables and sprue parts to seperate the windows.

And here's the whole thing with added plates:

Next ar the legs and the the upper body, greetz

the head is pure awesomeness!
if you fear hydraulics... think of all the rivets needed for that giant of a build....

Started the shoulders and additional plating on the torso, got a lot done, still a lot a head:

stupid pics got turned, sry for that... no idea why, but i guess it works for showing my progress^^

thx for the kind words, i almost forgot the rivets....this is gonna take a while =D, but it's ok, can't wait to use it in a battle, but i also don't wanna end it.
It's a lot of fun, learned much already and still keep getting getting better at modelling and finding new tools to use.

Lookin good, kinda makes you wonder why some people are willing to pay FW prices for something smaller. Holepunching is gonna be fun

a good holepunch will be around 20€ and it will be your scratch building buddy for the coming decade... i use mine all of the time and it is one with a revolver , it has six different punches, from 2mm to 5mm...
