So I picked up the models I need for a Cast of Players Harlequin detachment last weekend and I'm trying to make it work with my Eldar. They have a lot of good combos available, especially when it comes to leadership manipulation. Anywho, here's the list:

Eldar Detachment - 1202

Farseer ------ 100

Spiritseer ------ 70

Warlock ------ 35

10 Guardians ------ 90
Wave Serpent ------ 145
TL Scatterlaser, Ghostwalk, Holofield

10 Guardians ------ 90
Wave Serpent ------ 145
TL Scatterlaser, Ghostwalk, Holofield

3 Guardian Jetbikes ------ 51

5 Wraithguard ------ 160
Wave Serpent ------ 145
TL Scatterlaser, Ghostwalk, Holofield

9 Warp Spiders ------ 171

Cast of Players - 296

Harlequin Troupe(6 members) ------ 136
2xHarlequin's Kiss, 1 Harlequin's Caress, Troupe master with Harlequin's Caress

Shadowseer ------ 100
Mastery lvl 2, Mask of Secrets

Death Jester ------ 60

Total: 1498
*******************************************************************
Thoughts:

*The Farseer can run either with the harlequins, but will probably run with the guardians. The spiritseer will usually stick with the wraithguard to give them re-roll to hit with his Spirit Mark. The warp spiders and harlequins will most likely be the target of my psychic buffs such as fortune and invisibility.

*Jetbikes are just there to take objectives as always, but I could drop them for an additional Warlock and Troupe member.

*The Death Jester can use his shrieker cannon's ability to force morale checks on units to make them move closer or further from my army making my 12'' range weaponry much more effective. This ability is also boosted by the mask of secrets and horrify from the warlock.

I came here expecting to find a slightly weaker list which I could pick apart, and I must say I am disappointed. This looks to be pretty solid list.

Advice I will give, though is:

This list seems slightly lacking in anti-tank, I'd say try to give the Wave Serpents (or at least one of them) Bright Lances or Missile Launchers, but that's up to you.

Throw the warlock into the assault with the Harlequins (If you roll destructor, even better) to let the witchblade do it's work.

Keep the Farseer with the Guardians, but do not be afraid to throw him/her into the assault (as farseers, even stock ones, can be pretty gnarly).

Deep strike the Warp Spiders later in the game to serve as a clean up (unless that's already your plan, in which case, ignore this particular piece)

There's my two cents, anyway.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

If you fail to get veil of shadows off on the Harlequins (the 2 x 2d6 distance) they are going to die, simple as that. That formation usually works best with dark eldar as they have access to the Raider, aka a reliable way of getting close. I believe the Wraithguard can be replaced with Fire Dragons, they are cheaper and better at what they do.

I had fire dragons when I initially wrote the list out, but I switched to wraithguard so I could have more troops and stronger weapons. Plus the spiritseer was already in the list so it just made sense. The wraithguard will be more reliable than the fire dragons because of the spirit mark.

The Harlequins are fragile, but I don't play DE so bringing a transport for them is not an option. I'm just going to deploy them carefully and focus all of my psychic powers on them

Fire Dragons are better against Vehicles which is something your list is lacking, put the Farseer with them for guide. Also put the Spiritseer with the Harlequins and roll on telepathy, you may get Invisibility!

Wraithguard can get ID against multi-wound models which is something that I really want. Plus using guide takes up a warp charge which I could be using to cast invisibility.

If you get it. In 1500 games there are going to be av 14 vehicles and you have no reliable way of dealing with them you only have 5 Wraithguard and 2 Caresses that can damage them, even then it isn't guaranteed that it will blow up. Fire Dragons ensure it blows up, very few vehicles survive a round of shooting from fire dragons. Also you shouldn't be worrying about multi-wound models, you have Harlequins and a ton of rending weapons, Fire Dragons can also dish out massive damage to models with high armour value.

I see where everyone is coming from with taking Fire Dragons, and, personally, I would too now that I think about it, but you seem to have a good synergy going with your units, so will you plan to try and hurt heavy tanks whenever you can and otherwise ignore them?
