Hey dakka

So i will starting Khorne Daemonkin and i've decided to go the Gorepack route as it seems the most aggressive.

I was wondering if you could help me build the foundation of my list and give me a what to buy kind of list.

I understand that i need bikers w/ meltax2 and a combi-melta , as well as a juggerlord, but i dont know how else to kit out the juggerlord and how to flesh out the Slaughtercult. Any help would be appreciated

Personally, I like playing it as a khorne rush.

Troops are CSM in rhinos with two specials, 2 units of cultists and a few spawn. Of course, the 5 man possessed in another rhino...

Running up the field with these guys would be the gorepack and then some mauler fiends.

Holding up the rear are some soul grinders.

Thats how I am building my slaughtercult.

Get the gore-pack formation if you are not going for a themed list. It performs well with little to no planing and allows you to focus on your more important units such as Berzerkers and getting them into combat with whom you want them in combat with. I would as seen above recomend Berzerkers because who doesn't love em! Get 2 boxes of them though. Get some cultits and they are really cheap off ebay. Also, rhinos and landraiders they are transports you will love them more than your family. Then my Khornate Junior here comes the real fun of playing chaos, your champions. Here is the rundown

Chaos Lord: Most customization and one of the best basic HQs in the game. Can range from a CC monster to a 75 point place holder it is up to you to decide.

Herald: A discount chaos lord, while not as powerful as a Chaos Lord in CC he has some cool abilities to buff your army. Remember that this guy comes with a free ap 3!

Daemon Prince: A monster that leads a army of monsters this is if you really want to have a HQ that is going to murder whole units on his own as he is suitable to be equipped with most relics that this codex can offer.

Blood Throne: It is a Herald on a Blood Throne... It can transport things? That's a plus I guess. Overall, it is fast moving and kind of decent for the flesh hound list if you ask me.

Skulltaker: Murders characters there is literly nothing else to this guy he also gains more BT points when killing in challenges I like and he is actually pretty cheap.

Blood Thirsters (Going to compile them here) Think of a tougher more specialized daemon prince. While they can't be customized literally at all they also don't really need to be with 3 styles to choose from. The first one being killy the second one being more killy and the third one being the most killy.

Personal experience using the blood tithe table. I summoned 3 bloodthirsters in one long game, I have since discovered that they aren't that great to summon versus shooty armies since they have to stay in the air for a couple of turns. They all died playing Necrons. Just a word of advice, the fourth entry on the blood tithe table gives feel no pain army wide. It's a great upgrade, some people don't bother with summoning bloodthirsters since fnp makes your army more durable and increases the chances of getting into and surviving combat.

On a side note, I had so much fun watching my army die and just scratching enough blood points together to summon a friggin bloodthirster. Fun stuff.

Get characters wherever possible. They're great for BT point generation as the opponent will often have to accept a challenge coming from a lowly bloodletter with his uber-character to not forego shooting and it's another valuable BT point for you.

Spawns are awesome. Get as many small squads as possible (3).

All in all, msu is the way to go with daemonkin. The gore pack is probably gona synergise best with your fast rush. I'd put a juggerlord in a squad of hounds or a biker lord in a squad of bikers. But hounds are probably more preferable as they come stock with scout and fleet guaranteeing you turn 2 mellee. While bikers will act as a valuable source of melta that's desperately needed in the book.

Cultists are somewhat fine for relatively cheap backfield point scoring. And they might get decent in mellee if something comes close. Especially if you pop FC and/or +1 attack. Basically, they can pull off up to 5 s4 attacks on the charge. When you desperately need to get rid of something like a pod of marines dropping in your backlines, they can handle it.

I'd really love to run combi-plasma termies within a formation but i'm not sold on bloodcrushers compared to other stuff that you might get - scouting dogs, for example.

Are scull cannons any good?

Don't forget that it has a 6" radius for Loci, so with the ability to spread it to CSM and Daemons it may be more worthwhile.

Skull Cannons are decent artillery. Their main advantage is providing daemons with (effective) frag grenades, but they're not bad at standoff shooting generally. Plus, if you have a decent battery of them, you might be able to score blood tithe before the battle lines connect.

It can't transport anything since it's a Chariot. You get the benefit of a combined profile of the Chariot/Rider, but unfortunately Heralds are pretty squishy so you'd probably almost always want to take everything on the Chariot's AV value. I've never though much of them in a Chaos Demon army - always preferring a Herald on Juggernaut since you can join him with a unit of Flesh Hounds - but in a list with multiple Rhinos/Bikers/Flesh Hounds/Maulerfiends pushing forward I could see a Herald on Blood Throne helping to contribute to a target saturation problem for the enemy.

I think I am going a different route. I am going with the take a slaughtercult with as many war engines as possible. You can have up to 8 of them. If $$$ isn't an option, imagine 8 maulerfiends heading straight at you? Alas, I only have 3 of them. But, I have 3 soul grinders and 3 defilers. So, I should be able to have a ton of mechanized walking fun .

8 mauler fiends would be scary!

Has anyone tried using mass amounts of Daemons and spamming Feel no pain and summoning troops?

I noticed how effective this was the other day, tons of cheap units coming in, extra durable and each bloodletter squad summoned refunds 2 of its blood tithe points
