So, I've been interested in FW tanks for a while, and I've decided to get one. The one that I like the look of is the Sicarian Battle Tank, but there's a problem. My army is pre-Rynn's World disaster Crimson Fists, and with the Sicarius being a Legion Tank, would they even have one in their armoury? They are a Second Founding Chapter so they could have brought a few with them but I'm not sure it's entirely possible. The one that would make the most sense is the Land Raider Achilles:
" It was originally created by the Imperial Fists Legion in response to a dire xenos threat now lost to the mists of history, and fittingly rare outside the noble Chapter, their successors and the Ordo Reductor of the Adeptus Mechanicus"

So which one would make more sense from a fluff point, the Sicarius or the Achilles?

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

The sicaran has all around better rules and IMO is the better model (totally subjective).

I can think of several major plot devices to explain a second founding chapter ending up with a legion tank; 1) legion tanks found as artifacts on forgotten armories or battlefields, 2) captured and cleansed when your chapter goes CSM hunting, and 3) gifted by a group that would have relatively large numbers of them such as the founding chapter.

The Relic Sicaran entry in Imperial Armour 2 Second Edition includes pictures of two Sicarans: one Ultramarine and one Black Templar. The latter being specifically stated to have been a Sicaran of the Imperial Fist Legion ceded to the Black Templars upon their founding. If the Templars could get one there's no reason Crimson Fists couldn't have also.

2nd founding chapters can have old school shinies. When the legions were broken up, the guys who kept the name might have had dibs, but the assets were distributed to all the newly formed chapters. It would make sense for them to have some relics of old collecting dust in the armory.

So feel free to take whatever you think is cool.

The Sicaran is really sexy and really good.

Yes, the chapters created directly from the Legions would have some goodies. 10,000 years would take its toll on them, but they could still have a few left.

Also, it is Sicaran, with only the one "i". Sicarian is a new 40K AdMech unit.

2nd founding chapters would generally have access to all of the legion stuff because they were formed from those legions.

Going from what I recall from the fluff, when the Legions were broken up they basically divided their equipment. So as a Second Founding chapter the Crimson Fists would have likely gotten some of the original legion's tanks when they were originally split off. It's only if you're a later founding that you probably wouldn't have your own except in some circumstances.
