Hello,

I am starting Dark Eldar. I have the Codex. I have been playing Regular Marines for along time now, and would like to play an army that feels completely different.

I absolutely love the Succubus and Wych models, even though I have heard they are really lackluster in the codex. I still would like to work around fielding them.

This isn't a major tourney list. I will start out small and play with friends and eventually local tournaments. In the end I want the list to be strong, because most of the people I play against are very good, and while I don't mind losing, I certainly don't enjoy getting wiped. However, I am excited to play a more challenging army.

The Army: 1470 points right now
In general I want to have
2 raiders with wyches
4 venoms with warriors
2 Razorwing Jetfighters
3 Dark Lance Ravagers.

The idea would be to see which wych unit gets which combat drug upgrade, then place her with whichever wych unit will be better. (like a higher toughness or something.)
The ravagers and jetfighters pop tanks and transports.
The Warriors soften up the units. (and hunt high toughness targets)
The wyches engage in close combat.

This to me sounds really fun. Both to paint and play.

The Specific unit break-down looks like this:
HQ Succubus
Archite Glaive

Tr 1 Wyches x9
Hydra Gauntlets
DT Raider

Tr 2 Wyches x9
Hydra Gauntlets
DT Raider

Tr 3 Kabalite Warriors
DT Venom
Splinter Cannon

Tr 4 Kabalite Warriors
DT Venom
Splinter Cannon

Tr 5 Kabalite Warriors
DT Venom
Splinter Cannon

Tr 6 Kabalite Warriors
DT Venom
Splinter Cannon

FA 1 Razorwing Jetfighter
Dark Lances

FA 2 Razorwing Jetfighter
Dark Lances

HS 2 Ravager
Dark Lances

HS 2 Ravager
Dark Lances

HS 2 Ravager
Dark Lances

My biggest question is:
Do I have enough armour breaking units?
If not, would it be good to drop one venom to take a unit of haywire scourges?

This is the biggest question I have right now, as I have not actually fielded Dark Eldar.
Eventually I will figure it out through some trial and error, but any advice you guys have is awesome.

I do not really want to fit in any wracks, grotesques, or anything that is not sleek-ish just for model looks. Except I would play scourges because that model is insanely awesome.

This is a very good list. First of all, combat drugs is one roll for all applicable units. Both squads will have the same one.

Something you could do is get a few more blasters in your list. I would drop one unit of warriors and move their venom to fast attack. This will pretty much pay for blasters in warrior squads.

One more thing I would do is drop hydra gauntlets. With those extra points you get a hekatrix with haywire grenades in each wyches squad. Also you could put aethersails on the Raiders so they have a better chance at getting into assault.

I see.. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok, that is a good idea. Do you find that getting Venoms up close a problem? I was plannin on keeping them mostly around 36".
Now that I think about it more, it sounds good. I could run a few Venoms towards the enemy along with the Raiders that will have the Wyches in them. That should give them more decisions in their shooting phase.

The Hydra Gauntlets were mostly for coolness, and partially to off-set low Strength, but I would possibly drop them to fit better stuff in.

Thanks for your input.

Lances aren't very good.

For anti tank, I would run scourge with haywire blasters.

People around me are not use to seeing Scrouge's on the table. When you start taz'ing armor track vehicles it becomes a "Oh CRAP!!" moment

I too am new to DE, but I have played a few more games than you. This is a great list, but I like Aether Sails, and nightsheilds on raiders w/ wyches. It allows them to be survivable and very mobile. You have enough anti-armour. 12 dark lances is enough. The general rule of thumb that competitive plays like by is one dark lance for every 100 points. I think that is too many, and 12 for a 1500 points list is a very healthy amount

I think the core of any dark eldar AT should still be in the form of lances. They are way more versatile than scourges and a typical ravager load out is only 5 points mor

i play them religiously right now i can tell you normally for me i run 2 ravagers with night shields when you move 12 inches only 2 weapons can fire to full effect i normally run 4 to 5 venoms with warriors or if i wanna do it then 10 man squads in raiders with dark lances splinter racks and night shields cant go wrong with 20 rapid fire shots twin linked. 9 reavers with 3 blasters and 3 cluster caltrops are an amazing unit for fast strength 6 rending for 3d6 hits for hammer of wrath. a succubus is a great hq i love her alot i also love the archon with his 2+ invul save with that relic, i have also discovered grotesques to be an amazing unit and if you take them from the covens book theyre gravy to the list. 3 razor wings is a good anti flyer game, the raiders from realspace detachment is golden i run it every time i use dark eldar cant go wrong with 6 fast attack and the rest of the standard foc. these are my suggestions for dark eldar if youre playing for fun and i strictly mean for fun wyches can be ok i have tried them in multiple games and idk they just fold in the games i've used them in. these are my opinions not word of law from any top tier player. watch skaredcast on youtube he does alot of dark eldar battle reports with the 7th ed book and you can see how it kinda plays.
