Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

It is time to figure out how to use the... how do I say it... not Gorepack formations in the Khorne Daemonkin codex.
Slaughtercult: Its your main detachment, just put your troops and stuff in it not much else to say.
Brazen Onslaught: This should be your hardest hitting, but slowest formation the problem being that 1. blood crushers fall over in pain when you look at them wrong, and 2. flesh hounds and BCs hit at around the same strength once you balance it out. The only good thing in this formation then I'll argue is the terminators because 6-7 ap3 strength 5 attacks is awesome because of deepstrike, but still they can't assault out of deep strike so it makes it a lot harder to use. So sad because I love the idea of this formation and there has to be a way to make it useful.
Khorne's Bloodstorm: It's not bad. Highly maneuverable and the +1 strength to HOW is amazing because strength 5 HOW is just awesome and really killy. A bonus with this formation being in this army is that the Warp Talons blind is actually useful! You can use BOB to know exactly where these guys are going to land.
Gorepack: Turn 1 assault hounds... Its just awesome maybe too awesome as it overshadows the rest of the formations. Also, as stated above HOW is awesome and HOW hounds is't bad along with the rerolling HOW bikes.
Charnel Cohort: Tons of daemons that allow you to re-roll your warlord trait all units in this formation can deepstike without mishap and enemy units have a minus -2 penatly on their Leadership when taking fear tests. Not that bad... It is just a dumpling ground for your daemon units that give tons of extra bonuses.
Oy.. If you can help a berzerker out here I'm having trouble seeing that the other formations can compete with GP I see potential in them just not as much as with GP.

Honestly I'm having trouble seeing myself running anything but the Gorepack. The Brazen Onslaught benefits are the best out of the bunch in my eyes, but the 2 units of Bloodcrushers minimum really hurts it. Termicide is no longer an option for us unless you'd like to squander 270 points for the opportunity to do so.
The only one I would even consider is the Khorne's Bloodstorm- but I'm having trouble justifying the Warp Talon's cost. If I were to use this formation I'd run 2 units of 5 Raptors with 2 meltas in each squad, the Baleflamer Heldrake, and the one unit of Warp Talons. I'd bring in the Talons either behind the advancing vanguard of my force (any flesh hounds I have, Bikes, or Maulerfiends) as a protective measure and assault the next turn.
But the Formation is still nothing close to the Gorepack. At least we got one Formation that is inherently good.
My list will be something like:
Juggerlord
2x 8 Berzerkers
Possessed
Pepper in some Cultists
Insensate Rage
One or two Maulerfiends
2x 3 Bikers with 2 meltas each
As many Flesh Hounds as I can fit
I still see Flesh Hounds as the best unit in the book. So I'll be bringing them as often as possible.

I plan to run the Bloodstorm formation myself (since I already have one unit of Raptors built). I really wanna run a Helturkey in my Blood Host, and I like the benefits of the stronger HoW. My main concern is that dropping the warp talons near a BoB could blind the unit with the banner. Is this a problem?

But can you assault after a scout move?
Anywayz, i'd love me some termie formation cause i like combi-plasma termies. But 2 mandatory squads of bloodcrushers are not great.
Raptor formation is decent. I doubt you'll notice any difference from s4-5 bonus HOW as you're better off using a jumppack to move 12 to ensure you actually make it into combat rather than moving 6 and getting fleet + HOW. But it might be a thing for aggressively deepstriking talons. s8 ap2 vector striking Drake is great. Besides, a Drake is even more valuable for daemonkin than for a regular CSM dex cause daemonkin don't lack board controle but do feel dire need to ranged support. Raptors are basically a source of melta that can deepstrike when needed.
Not sure if Charnel Cohort is needed that much. Guess, it's not bad anywayz.
Gorepack is the best simply cause you're not forced to take underperforming units in there. In other words, you'd take melta bikes and hounds anywayz, right?

That was the answer to my "can you assault after a scout move" referring to the op's statement of turn 1 assaulting doggies.

Charnel Cohort seems like one of those things you use to expand out massively if your in a big points game. It's pretty much an entire side army of daemons.

Warp talons can't blind your own guys , so I can definitely see tactical applications of the bloodstorm.
A s8 vector striking helldrake is awe some , no problems there.
2 units of khorne raptors... Like , they are OK. There are better fast units, but raptors are playable. Same goes for talons, they are Really relying on the blind to survive. .
Maybe you could increase blind coverage by allying in a black legion sorceror with the last memory...
Once you take a slaughter cult and a bloodstorm.. you don't have many points left.
Probably best adding a brazen onslaught or charnel cohort , to bring in banners and deep strike saturation.

Yeah, the Bloodstorm is good for several reasons. The Daemonkin list has limited access to flak - hell, it has limited access to guns - and the Heldrake is one of the best superiority aircraft out there, especially with increase strength vector strikes.
Warp Talons with a banner are nice - getting blind effectively - but they also get a bit of a power boost in the codex. As one of two units with both the Mark of Khorne and Daemon of Khorne, they hit like a frickin' freight train, and you can grant them feel no pain - boosting up their one major weak spot in game (durability) Or, you know, +1 attack and laugh like a demented loon as each one unloads 5 strength 5 lighting claw attacks.
The Brazen Onslaught......
Like everyone else I can't wrap my brain round how to use bloodcrushers. I get that in theory they're devastating, but relying purely on the daemon save seems asking to go down to a torrent of small arms fire.
Attaching a lord on a bike does nothing - at least, not enough to be worth expending him (Free blood points, I guess).Other than that your options are (a) hug cover, (b) provide cover - which means blood thrones, or flesh hounds/bikes or (c) hold them in reserve.
Holding them back so that (theoretically) they don't arrive until you have feel no pain waiting might be best. You don't get in on the fight till turn three, but if you just try charging an enemy gunline over open ground you aren't going to make it at all.
The terminators need no introduction. Khornate terminators, especially armed for assault work with plenty of flame weapons, are a real backbreaker of a unit, and mini-rampage makes them even scarier.

I think most agree that the Gorepack is the standout formation in the codex. Putting the main Slaughtercult one to the side for a moment, the others just seem to force you to take too many average to crappy units to make your army effective as a whole, even with the formation special rules.
If you're selecting an army solely from this codex, I'm still undecided on whether it's worth taking a CAD but if you're not doing the whole Blood Host detachment thing or really want Mono-Khorne I suspect it's better to take a normal CSM or Daemons CAD and then allying in Gorepacks. I think if you want to build a list utilising the Blood Tithe then you really have to go for it and go with the Blood Host/Slaughtercult to get the bonus point at the start of your turn. The best I've managed so far is 6 blood tithe points at the start of Turn 1 with a Blood Host.
I also like being able to sprinkle in Soulgrinders and daemon engines easily under the Blood Host but one downside is that you can't take a Heldrake without the formation, which makes it not worth it imo.

Its slightly heretical.. but..
A chaos lord of nurgle, with the daemonheart, woudl make a good frontman for a unit of bloodcraushers.
He can tank the S8-9-10 attacks, and LOS! other attacks to the multiple wound guys, to keep the whole unit intact. Automatically Appended Next Post: I thiiiink he could benefit from the bonus attack also.

I haven't checked but can you now join a Nurgle marked lord to Daemons of Khorne? Was it only the Daemonic Instability in the Daemons Codexppreventing this before? If so there might be some other interesting combinations.

I was thinking of doing a Slaughtercult with berzerkers/marines (going to use wrathmongers kit to bash up some cool looking possessed) and then put like 6 8-man sized cultist units in a CAD in the same army.
This will give some flexibility to get the +1 point each turn and then take whatever units I want in the CAD without taking a formation (thinking khorne terminators).
Also, all the cultist units will get objective secured.

This. This is how I'm going to run it I think.

Played a 2000 game last night against a decent opponent with a decent blood angels army. KDK can be damn scary. The amount of pressure you can apply is incredible. By the end of turn three I had 4 bloodthirsters on the table, I had 4 blood tithe points already banked and feel no pain active on the slaughtercult. Against all but the strongest tournament based cheese lists this book has proved incredibly powerful for me. And people used to laugh at me for sticking with khonre.
The new BT of Insensate rage opens tanks for fun. Bezerkers are much more viable with FnP, and possessed with MoK and DoK coming out of a land raider are pretty disgusting.
The only issue I'm having so far is my maulerfiends. Damn things are constantly getting immobilised. Debating dropping my pair for another BT.

My feeling is a pack of Maulers would go well with an allied in LR with the legacy of +1 invun. 4+ invun should help matters
Crazy idea but why not ally in a warpsmith? can fix immobilisation issues.

I contemplated an allied warpsmith, with the raider in there with the legacy too. But that's 400 odd points out of my list that don't have the BFTBG special rule nor benefit from any blood tithe benefits...
I'll work it out. It might just be luck, they've not let me down this much before.
