So I'm working on a long term project of building a Heresy Era Emperor's Children army for
40k. I'm using a combination of old pre-MkVI armour variant figures and modern Forge World models. It's going to take a while to gather, thus my calling it "long term". I have high hopes for the project, and what I have finished of it is turning out nicely. To this end a couple of months ago I scored a great deal on an Armoured Land Raider Proteus kit on Ebay. I love the "retro" look of that model, and think it's a great update of the classic MK I Landraider kit.
The model, had all the danger signs of course. The buying price was well less than half current retail. It was a "Buy it Now" listing of short duration, from a China based seller with little prior feedback. The kit was shipped with no original packaging or instructions. I am holding on to no illusions about the "authenticity" of the kit. But it really doesn't matter. Assembled and painted, no one can tell either way. Don't ask, don't tell, right?
Anyway, here is my question.
Would any of you lot have objections if a player used a Proteus model as a "counts as" substitution for a standard lascannon/twin heavy bolter Landraider? They look very similar, and the weapons load out of the two models is the same. Yes, I realize that the final answer to my question lies with my local gaming group. I already know what that is. Locally, few players use Forge World rules or models. So there is little to no possibility of confusion. (something that can be completely avoided with a little basic communications during game set-up) So I'm certainly this will not be a problem here. But I was curious what the opinion of such a act would be outsider of my local group.
Thoughts?
