Hello Dakka! I have a question to you guys about transporting miniatures.
Up to now I've simply put them in the cardboard boxes in which the miniatures are sold, which is obviously not very good for the paint.
I'm looking to buy a case that I can transport easily on a bicycle (I am a Dutchie after all ) and costs about €100,- (73 pounds or $108). I've been looking into Battlefoam, KR Multicases and GW's new Citadel Figure Cases. Which one would you guys recommend, are there any other companies that make good miniature cases? I'd love to hear you guys' thoughts on the subject.
Thanks in advance!

I’m a fan of KR, and they make a few backpacks, which should suit your needs.

Feldher and Sabol are two other companies that come up when the case issue gets tossed around.

Baking pans with lids and rare earth magnets. Then place those in a bankers box for cheap or get a KR bag for them for fancy.

Boom, you protected your models for a fraction of the cost of foam.

I have a battlefoam bag. I used to use a metal KR case, but I wasn't too happy with the quality, and Battlefoam is pretty rock solid. Custom foam for every unit and a simple custom tray creator makes it pretty easy to have a perfectly custom, high quality case.

Of course, its literally the most expensive of every possible way you'd ever transport your minis, but I'm not too fussed at dropping an additional 10% of my army's cost on keeping safe.

That said, there are really good DIY options.

One possibly cheap option that works is to have a foam shop cut the foam for you. My sister worked at such a company once, and I had, like, a hundred pieces of custom foam cut, lol

It can be cut to fit any case/backpack, and is often cheaper than buying cases specifically made for hobby/gaming.

KR's backpack 2.
It has room for 2 KR cases, and enough pockets for books, dice and stuff.
I expect there are panniers to be able to carry more. They now make various sizes of KR case, so it's probable.

A custom-tray Backpack 2 shows at £104.99, for either bespoke (you choose the trays) or pre-chosen sets.
A Backpack 2 is £84.99 for 2 cases filled with 'core' foam trays. These are the normal #-model tray, or pick-and-pluck.

Also, KR's site had a video clip on it showing how they handle being dropped.

There are other manufacturers (models in comfort, I think they're called, Feldherr and others), and you've listed the biggies.
Battlefoam makes sturdy cases and 'hard' foam, where-as KR is more cardboard boxes in bags, and softer foam. Being cardboard, it's easy to write on them to say what's in them. Or stick on box lids. It's all good.
Or, get a camping rucksack, lots of foam from a bedding supplier, and plastic tubs.

If you're not shopping at your FLGS, look in the adds section of Dakka. There may be discounts going.

My cryx army is in a Battlefoam 1520XL with 6" extension and custom trays. I have nearly the entire faction so its totally full. My 40k stuff is in the GW case (old style) and the big xmas box they sent out with pluck foam in that for vehicles, rulebooks, dice, etc.

I bought a 100$ battlefoam case 10 years ago and I game every week pretty much. Still looks like it did the day I bought it. I'm a pretty happy customer, that thing is solid as heck.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Alright, thanks for all the tips! A friend uses Feldherr which seemed pretty good, any thoughts on that?

I really enjoy Battle Foam, they're quite nice. The GW cases are solid, but can break some of the pointy or oddly shaped minis.
