Rough Rider with Boomstick

Hello all, recently surfing through 40k lore I stumbled across the Geu'vesa, human soldiers fighting for Tau. So after a little more research and looking over pictures of some interpretations, I decided to have a go at making my own!
The following pics detail the construction of my first Geu'vesa:
I started by converting the legs, taking a set of Tau legs and cutting them just below the knee, and a set of Guardsman's legs and cutting them just above the knee. I then did some shaving to have them match up better.
Next was attaching the torso, no conversion needed.
The arms were more interesting. For the right arm I took a Guardsman's arm and cut the las rifle off. I then carved a pulse rifle off a Tau arm and combined them as such. Left arm is actually a Tau arm, but I shaved the hand to make the third finger less prominent.
For the helmet I merely attached a Tau helmet antenna, soon after this pic I ground off the Imperial Aquila.
Attach the arms, head, backpack, and shoulder armor and it's all done (excepting the paintjob of course.) Overall it seems to have come out very well, much better than I was expecting. Overall the conversion took about 30 minutes, I could probably do it quicker now that I got a process down.
Here's a size comparison: (Apologies for the picture being flipped, not sure why it did that)
So yeah, painting up next!

Very nicely done! I look forward to seeing this painted up, it sure looks quite promising!
Were you going to make other squads or vehicles as well? Or are you sticking to just basic infantry?

What do you call a lasgun with a laser sight? Twin-linked. |

I'm actually making them as a gift for a buddy of mine who plays Tau, however I am now considering starting my own Tau force (as of now I play as Imperial Guard.) Other words, yeah just infantry for now, but considering the successful outcome of this most recent endeavor I'm definitely going to try and go further.
I've been thinking throughout the evening on how to make a Gue'vesa dominant army, I have a few ideas of how Tau and Imperial technologies could mesh. Big thing is making it so the army is still playable on the tabletop, the standard Geu'vesa count as Firewarriors easily enough (and are even properly armed .) Vehicles are the only point where it could get a little weird making sure they are still legal units, some basic modifications like having a human tank commander hanging out the hatch will be no problem though.
Regardless, it will be fun building it!

Unless you really want to have Hammerheads with IG cannons on them... it wouldnt make much sense for Tau to build different weapons for their human auxiliaries' vehicles.
Just build a Tau tank with a human commander in tau equipment, and put English (and Tau if youre saucy) markings on the tank to complete the look

The model looks great.
I've been tempted to this myself, but I could never justify to myself canibalizing 20 models to get 10, at GWs prices.

Completed a second Geu'vesa, this time in a crouch pose. This one came out remarkably well, perhaps better than the last one. Again, not painted yet, once I have them all assembled I'll paint them all at once.
In my infinite wisdom I forgot to put the Tau antenna on the right side of his helmet, I'll probably do that not too long after making this post.

lol, yeah I know what you mean. In order to do this two kits have to be completely butchered. If I wasn't making this as a gift it would be hard justifying myself paying $60+ for a 12 man squad (10 Geu'vesa, two normal Firewarriors.)

A bit of an update, alongside new discoveries:
I now have six and a half Tau Gue'vesa done in varying poses, three are great, one is good, and two of kind of "meh." I still have to get to painting them, but it will not be far off. Overall I'll be applying two different paint jobs; the first will be a white and blue winter scheme, these will be presented as a gift to a buddy of mine. The second will be a tan and green jungle pattern, these troops I will keep for myself.
In regards to new an amazing discoveries; As it turns out the Geu'vesa legs come out a lot better when greenstuff is used to put them together as opposed to glue. Prior to my "amazing" discovery I was shaping each leg manually with an exacto knife, having to get everything just about perfect prior to gluing. Now that I've started using greenstuff I have a substantially larger variety of poses available to me, all of which are much easier to accomplish. I just wish I had thought of that earlier lol! Would have saved so much effort!
So yeah... Once I start painting I'll finally get some new pics up.

So far so good mate, but instead of each soldier getting their own antenna, why not take a page from the Imperial Guard and have 1 guy with a Tau inspired radio backpack seeing they would have some obvious translation and communication issues...

Love the models, great job.
I can't say I care for the paint scheme, but thats just a matter of personal preference (they seem too....plastic color).
Great job on the conversion, can't wait to see more.

That's an interesting thought, and I've actually seen a few other Geu.vesa conversions like that, where the squads functionally were kind of like a combination between Guard and Firewarrior tactics, that is, 6-12 man squads with a single radio man for each squad. I'll probably be looking into that myself actually, I'm currently looking into less expensive ways to build Geu'vesa, one of which will probably be more along the lines of slightly modified guardsmen, except with pulse rifles as opposed to Lasguns.

Hmm... Is it due to some of the shiny-er parts of the model? Or do you think it is just the paint-scheme in general? Open to suggestions.
Also thank you much for all the compliments guys!
