I say it really depends on what you're fighting.

Most BA players will swear by the Fragioso. I prefer Blood Talons and Melta-gun/Heavy Flamer combo.

Look at all the helpful...

Pick a role for your Dreadnaught. Don't do a Melta/Flamer combo because no matter what, one gun is wasted. A single S8 shot against the typical targets you use a Flamer on isn't worth the effort. Two more Rending Templates are VERY worth the effort, which is what the Fragioso is for. Frag Cannon, Heavy Flamer. Smoke or Magna Grapple is up to you. I like Magna Grapples for Moves Through Cover.

Don't bother with Blood Talons. You can reroll all wounds your S10 wounds fail on... Let's be honest here, if there is something that your S10 NEEDS rerolls on, the Dreadnaught isn't going to make it there. They aren't that durable.

You have enough tactical squads to not need Cassor the Damned as a Troop choice, so Fragioso with likely give you the most use. In a Drop Pod of course.

I don't know about you, but my meta has a lot of Ork and Necron players, so I find the Heavy Flamer/Melta to be extremely effective at taking out their open-top transports and everything inside. Like I said in my original post though, the best load out depends on what you're fighting.

In general, dreadnoughts aren't a very spectacular unit. They're fun to use, and if your opponent doesn't have much anti-armor they'll perform rather well. If your opponent is packing a lot of las or melta though, expect it to die within 2 or 3 turns, as you don't have any other vehicles.

Thus, it's important that you get your dreadnought in to do its damage as quickly as possible. If you run frag and flamer, you'll almost definitely need a drop pod. Being DA, I don't have access to that, so I generally do assault cannon and heavy flamer, as this performs a similar role but at slightly better range.

The only dreadnoughts that don't need a pod are long range builds, like double autocannon or las/missile. I can't say I've had much luck with these though, as a dev squad is cheaper, has more firepower, and can use cover.
