Hey Guys,

I recently started a Dark eldar army and I wanted to see if I could get some advice on tactics and tricks on playing them. I also wanted recommendations on what to get next. Right now I have the Wych cult shardstorm along with the kabalite skysplinter. I was thinking of getting either a razorwing or a voidraven to fill a tank hunter and anti flyer role. Any comments are appreciated.

Hi, You're off to a good start. For anti tank Blasterborn in a venom or a raider with a Blaster Archon and Scourges are our go to. Anti-flying however is tough for us, if it's an FMC Kabalites in a raider with splinter racks are great, otherwise usually it's fine to ignore it and hope for the best.
Tactics for Codex: DE stick and move. Stay mobile force engagements at vulnerable positions and keep the enemy off balance. Consider expanding into a covens force for some awesome stuff to add durability. Check out thedarkcity.net for a forum devoted entirely to DE. hope I helped!

Reavers are tons of fun and it helps that the models are just wicked looking. I'd get at least one unit of nine of those guys.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I have 6 reavers right now and both games I have played with them they were the mvp. As for the tank hunters, I really like the look of scourges and was considering them.

Haywire or Heat Lances work great with Scourge.

Reavers are awesome. I like 3 man units and larger units, 3 man for picking off units/ linebreaker, 9 man for power. Both work great.

Razorwing works well as you get Missiles for free for anti-horde.

Remember you have Craftworld allies! Crimson Hunter is great at Anti-Air, Farseers are good for having Psychic Defence and Warwalkers are amazing to keep up with your ability with Outflank and have TL Scatter lasers for AA. Troops like Fire Dragons and Wraithguard work well with a WWP (you also have Wave Serpents and Wraithknights but pfft).

There's a dude that plays at my store who runs a lot of Talos'. They are incredibly brutal and very difficult to kill. Either you have to drown them in a metric grot-tonne of high strength shots or somehow insta-kill them. Difficult for some armies to pull off, though.

Voidraven is a bad ass. Razorwing is a totally adequate alternative. But VoidRavens for the win.

I dont think you're going to be too pleased with the Wyches, so don't invest more in that until you get other needs handled.

Look to my blog for some Dark Eldar Battle Reports and advice if you'd like. Address is below.

The Shardstorm box is great in that you get a Raider, a Venom, and two boxes of Reavers...The Wyches...not so great, however if you use 8 Wyches, 1 Hekatrix with Haywire Grenades, and the Succubus with the Archite Glave and Haywire grenades, stick them in the Raider, and charge right up to your opponents face, they can get some kills. Just never let them get caught in the open on foot, and don't expect game miracles from them. I prefer the Razorwing to the voidraven simply due to the points...however the fact that it's HS is nice. Since I play a Wych Cult army, all of my units are in FA already.

Scourges are great anti tank heat lance or blasters or haywire
I always deep strike behind a tank and boom its dead but they are generally a very throw away unit one kill then mostly dead.

Talos pain engines are great for taking hits and can eat tanks in cc. A group of 3 is formidable a group of 5 from the covens is game changing due to getting VP every kill in cc

A nice trick with archon's is portal in with 20 kabiltes it screws with your oppents head especially if you do it twice.

Most importantly always remember single dark lances seem to always fail to do anything so always try and roll for a group of them.

To add to what you have add 2 groups of scourges it will be worth it
