Renegades have access to incredibly cheap anti-tank and anti light infantry. I reckon that with these covering the plasma obliterators main weaknesses, the new fortification could be a huge boon to R&H.

Reckon the plasma obliterators compliment a renegades list?

Im not sure.. you already have access to the best ordnance in the game...

The issue I'm finding with pure renegades though is that I'm filling up my heavy slots in the blink of an eye. This is like an extra heavy slot. The only other great meq killer in the 'dex' are earthshakers.
Admittedly rapiers and wyverns (and most other heavy slots) will still easily make their points back against meq, just because they are so cheap and/or force tons of saves. But 2 massive st7 ap2 blasts with -4 (or 5) off scatter is soooo tempting. It also doesn't care about most air units being av14.

Fair point. If I was forking out for fortifications tho I'd want at least one of the lascannon anti air platforms, to cover chaos biggest weakness.

Honestly that seems like a scary amount of firepower overall. IA 13 really boosted the lost and the dammed.

That is a terrifying list. The only thing I'm a little sad about is the size of some of those mutant squads - with more bodies they could be a threat, but at the moment they're just there to fill slots.

Also, there's another thread floating around the web with some early email FAQ from forge world. It looks like, when they finally release the FAQ, the Warlord Demagogue will be the only one who can take a devotion, and that will apply to the whole army, which means the other cad will also need more mutants!

Yeh IA13 is just brilliant.

Im not too worried about 10 man mutant units. I've found them to be excellent speed bumps, cover save givers and objective sitters. All round irritants to the opponent that aren't an issue to me if they get blown away since 30pts is peanuts. Also I equip mine with lasguns and just sit in front of opponents units and try and block movement and inconvenience their shooting. If they want to shoot or charge them to get rid of them they are pretty much wasting a turn with their unit, and I'm not going to give them that satisfaction by charging in. And if they take out a single marine with their shooting they've made back half their points with just that roll.

Yeh I heard about that FW email too, I wouldn't be too fussed with this list as I could easily drop a wyvern and get another mutant unit with 25pts to spare. The beauty if FW makes that email faq policy is that we would have access to more than 4 spawn units! Muhahahahahaha!

So seeing as buying one is looking difficult, ideas for scratch building a plasma oblitorator?

Can't see any cheap ways of getting a plasma blastgun. £40 for the warhound arm.

The building should be easy enough to build from one of the GW terrain kits..

Maybe a fantasy tower, with some sort of warp portal on top? Zapping out warp energy. Fits the tzeentch cultist theme,

It's a giant plasma gun, right? I'd recommend one of those green stuff cable makers and a trip to a sex toy shop
