Subject: What is a techno-revivalist cult in 40k

For the last couple of years, I've been selling off my Warhammer books and models. Before I sell a codex or army book, I always have one last read for old times sake.
Anyway, whilst reading through the Dark Angel Codex, I came across a reference that puzzled me ages ago and then forgot about until now. It was part of Azraels's background and told how he battled such a cult on Planet X (can't remember the planet's exact name)
Anyway, does anybody know what these cults are? Are they cults that worship machines or something else. But if they were machine worshippers, wouldn't that make them like the Tech-priests on Mars?
Thanks for any replies.

I'd imagine they are ones who develop new technology and don't revere the ancient designs.

Could be a couple of different things. One possibility is a group of hereteks that seek to unlock the secrets of eternal life/youth through arcane techno-wizardry, which has had some pretty terrible consequences in other areas (like the Sarcossan Wave Generator, which raises the dead into armies of zombie-like monstrosities).

Any technologically minded group that ignores the teachings of the Adeptus Mechanicus would fit this label. A specific example: The Logicians-

Exactly the explanation I was looking for.

After reading that Lexicanum entry, they're more like the scientists we'd recognise, rather than the superstitious one's of the 40k universe. Was this story line not in a Gaunt's novel? I'm sure I remember reading about this 10 years ago. Automatically Appended Next Post: RaptorusRex wrote:They've the Heretek equivalent of Southern Baptists, who travel around in giant Mega Churches on wheels.
Do they have Monty Python style holy hand grenades?

No, that's the Black Templars. Seriously. The "Holy Orb of Antioch" is old BT wargear.

I don't remember Gaunt encountering a SWG (Sarcossan Wave Generator), though I know Eisenhorn encountered an alpha-level psyker with a similar-ish power. The SWG appears in Dark Heresy, which Abnett had a hand in writing, so it's possible.
