Hi

I have been looking at codex inquisition and wondering if with 7th edition allowing dedicated transports to be taken as fast attack if I could take 2 Valkyrie as fast attack choices for them. I ask as the codex only shows hq and elite options

My thoughts where to add a single inquisitor to a skitarii force to give vanguard some transport options and air support for only a cheap "TAX".

Thanks

7th edition does not allow taking dedicated transports as Fast Attack choices. This is allowed by certain 7th edition codices listing dedicated transports as Fast Attack choices in addition to being dedicated transports, but is not a 7th edition-wide rule.

So no, what you're asking is not possible. If you want transports for your Skitarii then I suggest allying Blood Angels or Space Wolves.

If your gaming group uses Forgeworld you could use the update of Imperial Armour 2. It allows you to take a valkyrie squadron (from IA 2, not codex inquisition) as a Fast Attack choice. And that's only because the FAQ specifically allows it - as Mr Shine says, it's not because of any edition-wide rules.

EDIT: I don't have IA 2 2nd edition, so I don't know if it's horribly out of date. I do know that my 1st ed copy of IA 2 is.

IA2 2nd is still valid, the Inquisitorial Valkyries are cheaper but lack the Grav Chute rule. Makes them a bit useless IMO.

The forge world rules really are your best bet for cheap air support.

For the very, ahem, small tax of 3 super cheap henchmen, a super cheap and inquisitor and a rather expensive sky-shield you could put a Valkyrie on the board on turn 1, march your guys into it, the fly them across the board. You'll be at risk of them getting shot down as the bird will have to hover all of turn 1 though. Another option would be the storm wing formation. This formation is actually pretty good and gets you an empty storm-raven your guys can be deployed in.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
one last thought. Inquisition is an army style that basically begs to be played unbound. I understand you are playing a Skitarii force so that's mostly irrelevant but this is a legitimate time to question what you get the most out of, access to flyers or some other unit, or the command benefits. For the inquisition its easy, there are no command benefits.
