I by no means a competitive player (bobs why I play chaos marines) but I'm going up against a mate who is trialling his tournament list and want to make sure I at least make a good game of it to warm him up for the tournament. I don't know the list all I know is it'll be DE with Eldar allies.
With that in mind I've scoured my collection and come up with what I consider a reasonably capable list list. Feedback appreciated.
HQ:
Belakor
Kharn

TROOPS:
5 khorne berserkers, icon of wrath.
5 marines stock

ELITES:
4 man terminator squad 2x combi melta and chain fist 1x reaper autocannon and powerfist. Power axe on the champion. Mark of tzeench

FAST ATTACK:
Helldrake, bale-flamer

HEAVY SUPPORT:
Land raider
2x nurgle oblits
1x nurgle oblits

FORMATION
Hellcult
MM on helbrute
Cultists stock

Strategy is to place 2 back field objectives in ruins preferably out of LOS and camp the cultists in them
Other objective placed midfield.
Depending on targets available/his deployment I will either place all three oblits on top floor of a ruin with good fields of fire or keep one in reserve to deepstrike and deal with specific threats.

Kharn and the berserkers deploy in the land raider and flat out up the table aiming to get into assault early dealing with biggest threat unit first and if they survive splitting off to generally wreck face or score objectives.

After this land raider holds centre objective and just shoots stuff.

The marine squad will run behind the land raider using it for cover then onece the berserkers have disembarked they will get on to hopefully survive should the LR get popped so they are in a position to contest the objective.

The terminators will deepsrike in to deal with any priority threats or sieze objectives mission dependant. If they survive they'll just make a nuisance of themselves and try for line breaker.

The helbrutes job is to support the cultists and defend the deployment zone utilising one squad for the 3 + cover save

Belakor is the warlord he will fly straight up at the enemy deployment zone casting invis on the LR till it gets where it needs to then he will stay in the air making units invisible as required. When safe to do so hel land and weigh in with his own assaulting power.

This seems like a decent plan to me with room to adapt and improvise. What do people think.
Any suggestions or improvements appreciated.

Decent choice of units. Shame the compulsory troops are a bit weak. I'm not sure the hellcult is working for you, with minimum sized units you don't gain much from the fearless , and without a decent ranged weapon(s) the hellbrute doesn't gain much from the cover.
.belakor is sound. He should be able to hide behind a land raider out of LOS fairly safely without even needed to swoop. I would prefer kharn as warlord... Tho I guess he's more likely to die..

Automatically Appended Next Post:
If you've read imperial armour13, there is a legacy you could use to upgrade the land raider to make nearby cultists fearless which could work better than the cult. (I think it also gives you a save on your last hull point too)

Yeah I've found it hard to get the most out of the Hellcult, fearless cultists are awesome even at min strength because they can't just be weakened and then left to fall back, my opponent has to divert enough stuff to deal with them fully. But it's the hellbrute that has normally let me down, getting destroyed before he has chance to do anything.
That's why this time rather than running him up table behind a squad of cultists I was gonna try hiding him backfield with my cultists to act as a counter unit.
But he still feels like a big tax for what the hell cult brings il check out IA 13 as that land raider upgrade sounds tasty. Cheers for the advice.
