First time tyranid player here. I enjoy the swarm feel of tyranids so I built a list utilizing the Endless Swarm Formation

Flyrant w/ TLDBLW and EG 240
Trygon Prime 230
Hive Crone 155
Endless Swam Formation:
Hormagant 10x Brood 50
Hormagant 10x Brood 50
Hormagant 10x Brood 50
Termagant 10x Brood 40
Termagant 10x Brood 40
Termagant 10x Brood 40
Warriors Brood w/ Barbed Strangler 100

Total 995

Some quick notes:
This list would be unbound, as the Flyrant, Trygon Prime and Hive Crone done fit any detachment list. If you put a troop choice under it, it could be an allied detachment I guess.

As for the list itself, only 3 sources of synapse is quite weak, even at 1000pts.

I can also see high armor models giving you tons of problems. Highest STR weapon/model is 6, which means you would need to use 'Smash' to have any real chance at causing glancing / penetrating hits. (But to be fair, that is a problem for Nids no matter the list really).

Maybe drop the Crone and add some Zoan's / Venom's to boost synapse and give the swarm some boosted cover saves.

What models would work well to give me options to take down armor?

Would I want to add 1 Zoan and two Venoms or 2 Zoans and 1 Venom? Also, are Neuronthropes any good?

I did forget, you do have Electroshock Grubs on the Tyrant, that will be able to help take down armor, and if you roll Warp Blast on your Tyrant as well, that will help.

Warp Blast (Zoan's) and Carnifex's are the only reliable way to take out armor. So adding some Zoan's along with your Tyrant would be good.

2 Zoans and 1 Venom would provide a lot more Synapse and Anti-Armor, though 1 Zoan and 2 Venom would mean your gaunts survive much longer as you'd have more coverage. But with endless swarm, really, I would go 2 Zoan's and 1 Venom.

To make a "Battle Forged" list you'll want something like this...

HQ: Winged Tyrant, Twin Brain Leeches, Thorax: Electro Grubs 240
Troops: Warrior Brood, x3 Strangle Cannon 100
Troops: Warrior Brood, x3 Strangle Cannon 100

Endless swarm
Hormagant, x10 x3, 150
Termagant, x10 x3, 120
Warrior Brood, x3 Strangle Cannon 100

That's 810.

Add a Wormy and that is 1000 even.

This is kind of weak vs Armored Vehicles, but it does have reasonable Synapse, and two Mc's.
