Hey guys I'm currently painting my space marines as the Minotaurs chapter, and IA12 makes lots of comments about how they have the newest, best, and rarest armor/gear being handed to them straight off the assembly line. So I'm looking for advice on how to paint my troops and vehicles to look as if this is the first time this gear is being used in combat.

I know its a step in a different direction as everyone wants their stuff to look old and wearing out, were as I'm going for brand spanking new.

Thanks guys.

Bright, crisp colors. Obviously skip the weathering effects. Leave the tag on the collar?

Dont Weather?

Satan or gloss varnish to make it look shiny on the armor only?

Nice crisp paint, shiny metal and nice tight lines etc where the joints are.

No wear on the joints, and I guess as all new and fresh off the fotgre, pretty uniform, no mixed mark parts or such, no studded heresy era plating etc.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

So basically no washing, or dry brushing?

I'm painting them with Mournfang brown base, with Sycorax Bronze as the layer. Would anyone recommended a better bronze?

You still want shading.

I would go with a gloss coat then pin wash into the recess and darkest spots and keep it nice and tighty with thinned down washes mutliple time

otherwise if you just go at it with a large amount of wash its going to get splotchy.

I havnt done bronze yet but it seams that combination could work.

You definitely want to use a wash, or the model will look flat. However, use a fine brush and paint only the recesses, then go back and neaten around the model.

Don't drybrush, as that leaves an effect that isn't neat. However, edge highlights would be helpful, and if you're able to, make sure to brighten the areas that light would hit (by layering or blending). If you really want to go nuts, go NMM chrome.

As a bunch of people say, hit it with gloss after (unless you do NMM)

One trick I have seen/heard is paint everything like normal, add a clear varnish THEN wash: it makes for finer and sharper wash in the recesses to promote that new look.
