Well, put simply : I hate using metals for eldars. It does not feel role play as all their technology is supposed to be based on wraithbone... Even if I was thinking and looking a lot for something organic, like say coral, I never find an interesting and appealing idea...
So if anyone has realised or seen something original for eldar turbine or exhaust I would be very grateful...

So you're talking about those vent/grate covers on Falcon engines and the like? I've seen a lot of painters do them to match the surrounding paint scheme instead.

You could also just do them in bone or white colors, or do something that contrasts sharply with the color scheme. Say your color scheme is purple with yellow details; you could paint those yellow if you want them to stick out. I think you can really get away with anything as long as you darken the recesses to emphasize that they're turbines and not just oddly shaped pieces of armor.

Not sure exactly what you mean? Are you looking for a specific color?

For the front two vents on a falcon, wave serpent, prism tank.. I usually just paint mine a dark metallic.. and they highlight it bright.. same tiwht the turbine.. and no exhaust fumes/stains.. but it work with my color scheme.

I'm not into fluff but I don't think their ship is made of wraithbone? Isn't it their staffs or something?

You could always paint them like ceramics which comes in infinity color anyway

Thanks you all for your response, I will think about it... Still if someone has a picture of a falcon or vyper or motojet with the vent / turbine / exhaust in a NON metallic way that would be cool... Not just a random one, one you thought this particular detail was interesting...
Cheers

-> nothing specific, just someting that is not metal... At the begining I was thinking to mimic coral but that is not very appealing to the eye... I tried bone, did nt get nice result neither... I used a base of dark blue with lightning free hand on the coque of my eldars vessels (the idea was to have a nightstorm army), but somehow bone does not feels right to complement it...

-> maybe you re right about eldar not using wraithbone for ship, still I hate metal on eldars

Desubot made a good point with ceramics... I believe this should be quite bright, with strong highlight and not so dark recess... Maybe some glossy varnish isn t it ???

Ceramic as in ceramic material? I can see that for the turbines, but if you are getting into that deep and specific into this how does the color of a specific ceramic change one it is heated and cooled a ton?

Like when I put the header on my car (exhaust part). It was Stainless steel and when I drove my car for a few days it had a bluish/purplish tint to it (it looked badass). You can also paint the turbines just straight black... a lot of jet fighters have that color for it... now that I think about it, I may have done that instead of dark grey for my units.. I cant remember.. I haven't painted elder in a while.

If you want to get even more specific the vents wouldn't be made of ceramic because they are air intakes and would be cool not hot

something like this is kind of nice:

nevertheless I am not sure the violet-blue part is not titanium

Its not because its titanium, the same thing happened to the header on my car once it was heated, and that is made of stainless steel.

You also see a lot of people applying the same color scheme to flame throwers tips.

That effect is due to different thicknesses of metal oxide built up by heating the metal; yellow through orange, red, purple then blue.

When I first painted eldar, I started with an Alaitoc scheme with this on the underside:

I am currently working on Iyanden scheme with a black underside.

Just do them whatever colour you like that fits with your theme. I've been doing mine in dark grey.
