9 months ago, I started an email campaign of War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition.
The map is set up at 40 nMi per hex, with one day turns. The map runs from the western half of US and Canada, across the Pacific all the way to modern day Pakistan. Numerous off-map bases also exist.
Every land unit, airplane squadron and ship which saw service in the Pacific during World War II is there. This is literally a monster wargame. The first turn takes quite a while to set up, but once it's humming, I can flip a turn in about a half hour.

My opponent is from the Netherlands, so with our time zone difference, it's a bit tough to fit in a ton of turns per day -- Usually two on week days and maybe three on the weekend. After nine months, We're up to late February 1943, so we've made plenty of progress. I've not been on my A game, since China is almost extinct and he's holding half of India.
As in real life, Fuel/Oil is everything to Japan. It's why the war started to begin with. The Dutch East Indies are rolling in it, and provided he can keep it shipped to Japan, they'll still be in it.
There's another very entertaining AAR there, too, on the Matrix site. From the Japanese side. It's almost like reading a good drug trip.
