Hey Dakka,

Just started working on painting up my plasma guns and i really like the glow effect. I've been searching online and youtube and it seems that everyone uses a blue glow rather than a green glow. I'm currently working on using a base coat of warpstone green with a highlight of moot green but I'm not sure what the next colour to go with. Should I go with a white for the extremes glow or yellow. I'm looking for a almost toxic/biohazard colour as a glowing effect. Im hoping you guys could give me some pointer or maybe post me a painting tutorial.

Thanks dakka cheers.

Hmm...maybe a drybrush of yriel yellow, finish of with lamenters yellow or waywatchers green?
I'm going to test that out on a plasma pistol tonight, but someone else will probably have a much better suggestion

Thanks for the reply, let me know how it goes. Could you snap me a pic of the final result?

Thanks cheers.

Basically you want them to be green, and want them to glow white?

So cover the entire area of plasma and the area you want to glow white, and layer up getting less white-> to the color green you want it to be in the coils.

Or go look at a color wheel, and try checking for colors you want it to glow. replacing the colors above as needed.

I would paint the whole thing green, then paint watery white into the recesses. Then drybrush black/dark grey. This effect can be seen on the plasma in my cadian/skitarii log, cept mine was hawk turqouise then white then a dark drybrush. I also then used astronomican grey or a light grey to paint neatly on the top corner rim of the plasma coils as a highlight.
