Hi all,

I was wondering, is it possible to make a post-Rynn's World Crimson Fist army that is fluffy but still competitive and able to take on a variety of armies? I was thinking that a list heavily relying on Sternguard (maybe 2 squads?) with Pedro would make a good base for the army. What other units could possibly be in there?

Also, would including Rynn's Might (the best Land Raider ever ) be viable or not? I thought if it were to be viable it would have to be literally during the battle for New Rynn City, which wouldn't make sense if I was fighting against Tau, for example.

Thanks in advance,
Doge

(Didn't know whether to put this here or in Army Lists but oh well)

IIRC The BA formation with the sternguard and vanguards getting free stuff would probably be a decent way to go for a stern list.

Army list would probably be ok place to put it.

You could always go unbound and have your sternguard still have obsec

Once you come up with an Army List, I'd recommend you put it in the Army List area. People there are interested in commenting on them.

I don't know if it would be an excellent TAC list, but starting off with Pedro and a pair of Sternguard Guard Squads hopping out of drop pods is a decent start to a list. Perhaps 1 squad of combi-meltas and 1 squad of combi-plasmas. Obviously, point the melta at tanks and the plasma at MC's and such.

You'll want to back them up with some fire power. While I find the centurions to be ugly models, I can't deny that they can dish out some fire power. You still need some troops for the Org Chart, so a pair of cheap sniper scouts would foot the bill. Hide them!

Boom. Just season that to taste!

Pretty much this^

While Rynn's Might is the most badass tank ever, a LR isn't really a competitive choice. But you're already running Pedro and 2 Sternguard squads, which I would consider effective, so you could get away with running a LR.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I was aware that sternguard in drop pods work well (hence why I already run 10 in a pod), so I think I'll double up on them and stick Pedro in one pod with a squad.

In response to Hoyt, why isn't a Land Raider a competitive choice?

If you're using a LR I assume you'll be sticking termies in it?

If so, the main problem is you're paying 500 points to get an inefficient CC squad across the board in an overcosted glorified metal box. With the prevalence of AP 2 in 40k nowadays, Terminators tend to die quite quickly, by AP 2 or massed low strength fire.

But, it depends on your local meta really, are they running competitive lists or more fluffy/casual? If its not very competitive you can get away with a Land Raider.

The guys I'm up against are playing Tau and Grey Knights, and it's justa casual. Surely Termies in a LR would be good against Tau gunlines?

As long as you're not facing something like Riptide spam lists, you'll be fine, so if you want to run a Raider, go for it
