I'll keep this short and sweet. I have a fleet from Firestorm Armada that i want to strip of paint and redo. I've had them sitting in a tub of simple green for the last twenty four hours, pulled them out and went to scrub them under warm running water. The results weren't exactly what i was looking for. The figures became very sticky, with the paint brushing off only on afew places. I've gone to put them back into the simple green, but im wondering if there is anything else i can do, or something that im missing here.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

I have had success with LA's totally awesome from the dollar store. My 2 Medusas came out practically clean as a whistle.

Isopropanol is amazing

Dot3 brake fluid is even better

Both of those things are pretty horrible to be around/work with

Stinging is cleaning, you're welcome!

Dot3 brake fluid causes cancer or aids or something, so don't get it on your skin

In all cases, don't try and rinse the resulting gunk off with water. Keep some of whatever you're using spare, and use that to sluice and clear the debris off the model as much as you can.
if you absolutely have to use water, get some degreasing soap like dish-washing liquid or Swarfega for the end.
if your toothbrush goops up, stick it back in the fluid and soak it like the model.

Good luck!

I sliced the length of my finger open being a twunk fitting a new Xacto blade, and then put on sterile gloves to strip some figures down, and sealed the cuffs. The solvent I was using cracked the glove after 30minutes, and it flooded with liquid. I think my high pitched screaming was heard from out on the street.

Brake fluid is a no go. Horrible stuff, and will dissolve minis if I remember correctly.

Dawn Power Dissolver is probably the best stuff i've found. Safe for all materials, does a great job, and is absolutely safe to handle.

You remember incorrectly, unfortunately. I have forgotten about GW plastic minis in Dot3 brake fluid for weeks and they were completely fine, no loss of detail at all, let alone any melting.

I will agree though that it is rather extreme, and best avoided if you can, purely for health sake
