So we have a special end to our current league for this upcoming sunday and I want advice. Here are the rules that they've listed for the event.
The Armies: Each team needs two side force 500 point bound armies, no armor over 36(front + side + rear). Also one main force consisting of a 1000pt bound army no other restrictions.
Optional for late players – Two players from outside the game may each join a team, bringing a side force army. These armies come in from reserves on the next turn, no roll is needed on non-flyers. If you show up late please take a previously made army, not one to counter what is on the board.
The Battle Field: This scenario will be played on 3 boards simultaneously. The side armies will each play an opponent on separate 4x4 boards. The main force from each team will face off in a center 6x4 board.
Objective Markers: The main forces will be fighting over 6 objectives using the tactical objective cards, standard setup rules. Side forces will have 3 objective markers per board. One in each deployment zone and one in the center of the map. These will be special objectives that give a bonus to the main board on the corresponding turn.
Deployment: Each team will roll to randomly determine first deployment. The same team deploys first on all 3 tables.
First Turn: Each team will roll to randomly determine first turn. The same team goes first on all 3 tables.
Tactical Objectives: Each team on the main board generates 4 tactical objectives at the start of the game. The only way to get more cards will be from the side games.
Game Length: The game will end after turn 5.
Victory Conditions: At the end of the game, the Team who has scored the most points is the winner. If 2 or more teams have the same number of victory points, the winner is the one with more army points still on the board.
Primary Objective:
Main Table: Each objective held at the end of the game is +1 point. Add up all points from tactical objective cards.
Side Tables: Each objective held at the end of the game is +1 point. Two objectives will give the player on main table an additional tactical objective on the following turn. One center objective will give 1 use of an Artillery Strike to the teammate on the main table.
Secondary Objectives: Slay the Warlord, First Blood, Linebreaker
Mission Special Rules: Holding the center objective at the end of turn for each of the side games, will give one Artillery Strike to the teammate on the main board. This shot is to be used on the corresponding turn.
Artillery Strike: Infinite range, Str-9, AP3, Ordinance 1, Large Blast.

1000 point team lead list needs help with tweaks to make it sexy
Company of the Great Wolf detachment.
HQ
Wolf lord with runic armor, morkais claws, Thunderwolf mount
Rune priest on bike
Elite
Lone wolf in termie armor for rawr effect
IP on thunderwolf
Troops
GH x10 in pod
GH x10 in pod
Fast attack
Drop pod with deathwind (lone wolf goes here for giggles)
TWC w 3x shields, 1x WC and 1x TH
Need for tweaking on that last list is because I don't like how quickly I get my troops chewed up. I used to soak hits with priests and stuff up front but just the GH get eaten fast. I'm thinking I might want something to help slow the loss of the pack? I could cut the priest on a bike for a priest in a pack? HALP!

I feel like you may want to work one more Termie in to the 1000 pt list though, but that is just me.

I would tend to favor list two just because it will have more bodies and at such a low point level, more is better. Although I have yet to try the Void Claws, any feedback?

Void claws are good if they don't get blown off the table turn 1. I figured since it's low point value, it'll be hard to remove them all the turn they come in. If they aren't all wiped out then they will eat a unit in a single turn which is perfect for me. I think I'd use them against anyone using lots of bodies. Easy to rip them apart that way.

so they changed this on us last moment, we played a 4v3 at 750 points each on our side. We got destroyed by forgeworld bs and a demon summoning army. I'm seriously reconsidering playing this game at all now. I lost 3 thunderwolves and 5 fenrisian wolves to some 40 wounds turn 2 from an ordinance gun line of some sort from forge world.

Yup and the best part is the guy lied about the stats of the models and nothing was done once I pointed it out. He actually made fun of me when I told him it was bs. This game... It infuriates me.

Welcome to the average players PoV  most FW stuff isn't broken, they generally do a good job of balancing their models out.
What model was it (if you can remember)? Strength, AP, Blast or heavy or..

Welcome to the average players PoV  most FW stuff isn't broken, they generally do a good job of balancing their models out.
What model was it (if you can remember)? Strength, AP, Blast or heavy or..
The quad cannon "thudd gunn". Line of 4 of them small blast barrage. He said they were all T7 S6 but that's total bull... Automatically Appended Next Post: He also said the whole lineup with the meatshield that was with it was 150 points which is also a lie cuz they are 50 points each per gun and he had four of them.

You probably just had bad dice rolling. The best thing to do against Blast Weapons is to spread your units out as far as possible while maintaining coherency. That way you minimise the amount of hits that the weapon scores.
You're right about the points, that should have been 200 min.
Also doesn't help that your gaming group would change the mission like that. Kind of a foul move.

Right except my guys were all at their max spread and still maintaining cohesion. Forgeworld nonsense is just infuriating... it makes this a game of who buys the broken models from the UK and who doesn't. If I'm gonna play in that kind of a toxic meta with douchebag people, I may as well go back to playing MtG and drop $600 on a pro deck so I can at least have a chance.
Also, the FW notes on the guns specify them as T3, you sure they are T7? I am fairly new to this so I could be missing a rule somewhere along the lines... Automatically Appended Next Post: and my dice rolls were pretty average... Nothing out of the ordinary as far as statistics would dictate.

Crew are T3, Artillery models are T7 and you'll roll against T7 Toughness while there is a gun model remaining. Just checked the most recent rules, they are 55 pts each. This isn't a case of FW being stupid, this is the result of a player who decides to cheat. You can find the rules for them in this book If a player can't produce the rules for all their models, then I wouldn't play them. Personal rule of thumb after being on the receiving end of one too many 'mistakes' The book needs updating though. Barrage no longer causings Pinning.

I agree... which is why I'm not going back to that store while him and the other guys are there. They were rude and they cheated and I don't want to play a game when it's not fun anymore.
I'll post more lists when I find a new place or new people to play with.

I have recently resorted to taking a few 40k buddies and we play in the comfort of my home for these reasons. The LGS is just a completely big pain in the ass, the people are usually odd/off, there isn't any 40k product anymore, and then I usually have to pay to play on an empty table. Home with some free food/drink is fine by me.

Sorry about the bad experience.
I'll second the comment about making my opponent produce the rules/points/stats for any unit that sounds like complete BS.
Sometimes calling a cheater out for cheating works and they clean up their act, and sometimes cheaters just don't care and will laugh and say that getting away with what you can is part of the game. To this person I always like to point out that if they win by cheating then they really haven't won at all, right before I pick up my models and find another opponent.
The best thing to do is just refuse to play a known cheater and know the rules better than they do.
I hope your next game goes better, and I wouldn't be to quick to quit the game as I think you'll find that there are a great many more people who play the game for fun. Many of them are very competitive and don't like to lose, but who does.
Anyway just keep in mind that it is just a game of toy plastic soldiers, and that win or lose it's about making new friends and having a good time.
Also that the people who cheat to win probably base their self worth upon whether they win or not, and truth be told that's just pitiful.

Thats some rough luck man. Sucks that they had to cheat to win.
I've never played in a store environment, usually just chill at my buddies house and play or play with my roommate in our room. We usually have an unspoken rule about FW models, especially since a lot of them are silly.
Only FW things we see are contemptor dreads and the sicarian.

To be honest, I haven't played with a FW model in quite some time. Even the local store, FW is still a rare sight. I think many players still stick with the 5th/6th edition outlook of FW has to be approved all around.
