Hi Dakka!
So I'm getting back in the hobby and searched online and read the rule book but i can't seem to find a reason I can't do this. I have a feeling there's a thread somewhere with a huge argument over this but I can't find it.

I'd like to use the beam attack with warpflame on my green tide to give them better feel no pain. If beam doesn't work, is there a warp flame nova attack by chance that I missed?

Relevant rules

pg 27: beam rules
To use a witchfire power with the beam sub-type, target a point within the power's range and trace a line (about 1 mm thick) between the chosen point and the centre of the psykers base-this line cannot be drawn over any unit that is locked in combat. All unites under the line (friend and foe) are hit, with the exception of zooming flyers, swooping flying monstrous creatures and the psyker himself. Each unit hit be the attack takes a number of hits equal to the number of medles from that unit that are under the line. Only one unit that has a model under the line can attempt to deny the witch

pg 127: Allies of convenience description

Treat each other as 'enemy units' that cannot be charged, shot, attacked in close combat, or targeted witht psychic powers. this means for example that unites

are affected by attacks, special rules or abilities that affect 'enemy' unites within a certain range or area of affect.

the level of allies makes no difference to beams. You can even place beams on actual friendly models (such as battle brothers)

That would be my interpretation as well. I wanted to head off that discussion by including the rules from the get-go.
