Started using Dakka on my new spiffy iPad a while back. I've noticed a few idiosyncracies of an irritating nature, but one in specific I thought deserved mention here.

When copy-pasting with the iPad, I frequently notice that it fritzes out (After holding down the screen in a text field, it's supposed to bring up an option bar to paste, select, select all, etc, but instead the bar pops up and then disappears immediately. The same thing happens after manually selecting text.) while trying to perform. Unlike all the other problems I've had, this one is specific to Dakka. It happened again tonight when trying to paste some gallery urls into a PM (pasting gallery urls is the most frequent time this happens to me, but it happens other times as well). I immediately switched over to the Pages app and another website, and everywhere else the copy-paste function works normally.

This isn't the first time it's happened, and it isn't the first time I've confirmed the problem is limited only to the Dakka website. Am I doing something wrong? Is it only coincidence that it only happens on Dakka?

This hasn’t always been the case, but it changed a while ago. I don’t recall if it was an apple or dakka update that broke it.

One work around is to get the keyboard up, and a text insertion cursor. Then press/hold to bring up the select all option. I use this trick to copy image URLs from the gallery to post in the forums. Not very elegant, but it works.

It is a side effect of the function which allows you (on touchscreen only) to swipe right on the dakka logo to bring up a bigger, more clickable menu, which is really helpful on ipad mini and phones, but not so useful on normal ipads. I'll get around to tweaking properly at some point, but it is low on the list of priorities I'm afraid.
