I play necron and I'm having a hard time beating the new daemonkin codex.

You guys have some tips or strategy I can adopt when playing against them?

What sort of lists do you use? What sort of lists does your opponent use?

Well, Khorne Daemonkin is Khorne. Aside from a few vehicles and the occasional weapon on some of the CSM, everything is assault oriented. Necrons have a few answers to Assault enemies, but you'll have to play carefully. We're a shooting army mostly, so anything that can force the bulk of our forces into Assault is an issue.

Wraiths, Flayed Ones, and Lychguard can stand up to most of their units, and either tie them up or kick back with their own power.

Night Scythes are good, since they only anti-air they'll have is Soul Grinders or maybe some Heldrakes.

What sorts of things is he running?

But for now, when we play the things that bugs me the most it's the late game. He can have a tons of linebreaker with his "free" summon. It's feel that more the game goes on, is force are stronger and I can't catch up.

Is bloodthirster the game before give me a hard time so I have decided to take lots of str7 weapon. It works well as his demon die first turn. But I lost the game due to the overrun (summon) late game.


Don’t have the exact list for my friend but look like that;

Bloodthurster
2-3 groups blood crusher
Soul grinder
Helldrake
Chaos spawn
2 groups warp talons w/melta
2-3 groups blood letter
2 groups cultist

Might look into an Enclave, or Doombringer formation. Enclave can 1v1 anything up to and including the Bloodthirster in addition to a very strong alpha strike.

Doombringer allows you to throw around 10S AP1 blasts everywhere at high BS - and they have Tesla for AA.

Alternatively, I'm becoming increasingly interested in the Vault as the meta shifts. Not too much on his list could hurt it, and it'd be able to delete almost any unit on his list per turn.

Lastly, large groups of Flayed Ones will 99% of the time beat an equal number of points in assault.

Is Tesla still considered good on Tomb Blades compared to Gauss? I know it's pretty much second-class on everything else with the option.

Yea for the tesla it was a try this game normally I put the blast on them. What do you think guys, gauss tesla or blast on tomb blade ?

Tesla is generally superior at 12"-24", gauss at 12" or under.

Against Khorne Daemons I would go with Tesla, because a) you don't want to get within 12" of them and b) Invulnerable Saves make the AP4 of Gauss irrelevant.

Incidentally, there's no law saying you can't use different weapon types within one Tomb Blades unit, if you just want to cover all possibilities.

Someone have played against daemonkin who want to share is experience ?

I play daemon kin . Never played against Necrons since the new dex. But he is my exp Witt them....

The summons : these are nice to have. Free units?
Yes please. This will make it to where the daemon kin only gets stronger as the game goes on. Keep units back near objectives to prevent the summon objective steal/line breaker .

Also. I feel like challenges are where I get most of points. If you don't think you can win a challenge, don't accept. It might be safer that way unit you can get more support.

There are not many Necron characters to challenge.

Use wraiths and nightscythes it shouldn't be difficult. The daemonkin codex is not very strong.

I think I will try to put more wraith next time. 2 groups of 4 wraiths formation?

What do you think about lychguard?

Lychguard can hold their own against most of the Daemonkin units. make sure you get the charge off, since they are strongest when charging.

The turning point in most of my games as Daeminkin, is the late game deepstrikes. So dont feed them too much if you can help it. MSU seems to be the way to go.

I would try to have a couple of larger units as opposed to more small units. That way he gets fewer points for killing mor units.

Move a nightscythe to the Lynchguard unit and make the immortals a 10 man unit. This takes a potential BT point from him.

Avoid the temptation to kill his cultists each squad you kill gives him 2pts.

To beat this army think tarpits, which is something necrons can do very well.

A blob of 20 fearless warriors with 4+ reanimation and back them up with a couple of ghost arks to repair. Spread them out so his whole army has to charge you then sit tight and make him waste the whole game in cc while the nightscythes drop units on objectives.
