Bonkers Buggy Driver with Rockets
|
I like my Weird boyz, but i've found from playing in the new codex they are not as effective as they used to be. Note, I refuse to summon deamons with mine because they are the deamon killa klan. I think giving them more powers to choose from would make them better. Pyromancy is one. I know it is not the best table of powers, but lets face a weird boy able to through fire would be amazing. I would also say telepathy and telekinesis are options as well that should be consider. The ork powers are nice, but since the weird boy lost his auto hit with psykic shooting attacks, he needs more options.
Currently the options are Ork powers or Deamonology.

The Ork powers are pretty good with the exception of 'Eadbanger. The 2 buffing powers are great if you roll them.
I'd only take Malefic if I had a whole ton of Weirdboyz in multiple CADs.

Anywayz, i find wierdboyz much better than before. Reliable powers. FINALLY got a force stave. Doesn't need to mandatory deepstrike if you're not lucky. Yep, Extra WAAAGHS were handy but not all than great and random once again.
Besides, the powers are pretty decent. Only 'eadbanger and power vomit are sub-par. Power vomit cause it's a close range flamer - might frighten off some deepstrikers, however, but it gets used so rarely in real games both due to range issues and 2 WC cost that i consider it an unlucky roll. And 'eadbanger is just underwhelming.

I like the Waaaagh! Powers too. High strength powers with great armour piercing compared to others at a good WC price. An upgraded Weirdboy will generate d6+3 WC on his turn if near some Ere We Go units. Basically a level two psyker with the power pool of a level 3 psyker just got to make sure at least one of your powers succeeds or else you take a wound. I think the powers are cheap enough to do it reliably. I intend to buy a weirdboy and try him.

I was lucky enough ONE TIME to get the Krunch and roll two back to back 10+ I wiped out a unit of Space Marines and the unit touching it took some serious dmg to as well as popping a rhino for another tac squad. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!

I'm not so sure Power Vomit is as underwhelming as Ead Bangar (might even find some glass targets for that one but it still wouldn't be my favourite rolled power to acquire). If I got Power Vomit I would put him in a unit that wants to get close to the enemy. Str7 AP2 template auto hits with no cover or armour saves can be handy. The amount of dice rolls it negates is a boon for Orks. Strip away his powers and he's still a Nob so depending on his powers just give him a proper delivery unit and don't fear too much getting close I say.

I always wanted to run a Green Tide formation with two weird boyz.
I would be insane to get the buff I wanted +1 strength, but at the same time the other would probably roll on Demonology and attempt to get Hammerhand :-P Can you please for an instant imagine 100 orks with +1 attack and +1S, hell +2 strength on the charge. :-P only problem would be you have to remove the 2nd warboss and painboy to have enough HQ slots to do this trick, (2nd warboss for LS and Painboy for FNP)

Isn't hammerhand +2 strength in the first place? That plus furious charge is +3S for a total of S6.

That's correct. A charging unit of boyz with hammerhand buff on would all have Str6 along with their 4 atks on the charge. Too bad the Green tide is a formation not a detachment, the Green Tide uses a warboss. Or wait. Can a Indep join the Green Tide unit?

Yeah ever since this thread it's caused me to consider all kinds of Combos with Indeps and the Green Tide. FnP on the Green Tide is pretty sexy. Or with the weirdboy do that famous buff he does that people chant 'Ere we go! 'Ere we go! 'Ere we go! The extra at...warpath that's it. Lmao min of 100 Orks getting it.

I just used a 30 man boyz squad with a weirdboy in it today, he got the blessing with +1 attack. 30 boyz attacked 10 DS Space marine tacticals and I had almost 150 attacks :-P (I lost some to overwatch and that turn he shot at me). It was AWSOME!
