My local gaming group is holding a doubles tournament in a little over a month. I've never attended a doubles tournament before.... Nor a tournament for that matter. I want to know what people think of our list. I'll add my friends marine list in so people can see the overall balance of the list.

A note on the rules. Each person is restricted to 600 points, and can only take an allied detachment. The only level of alliance that exists is allies of convenience. However, warp charge pool into one group for the sake of simplicity in the psychic phase. With regard to the new eldar codex of which I've seen pretty much all of it, gargantuan monstrous creatures are banned. Lords of war are banned. Super heavies are banned. All ranged D weapons are banned. Forgeworld experimental rules are banned.... I think that covers it? The 4 matches we will play are all eternal War missions, there is no 'the relic' or 'big guns never tire'. Think that covers it all.

So, my 600 points.

Codex: Eldar Craftworlds 599 points

HQ - Farseer on jetbike. Spirit stone. Singing spear.

Troops - Windrider jetbike squad. 5x Jetbikes. 5x Scatter lasers. Warlock Skyrunner upgrade

Troops - Windrider jetbike squad. 4x Jetbikes. 4x Shuriken Cannons. Warlock Skyrunner upgrade (Farseer goes here)

Fast attack - Swooping Hawks 6x Hawks. One upgraded to exarch with sun rifle.

My friends 600 points

Codex: Space Marines 595 points (I think)

HQ - Librarian, ML2, Terminator armour, Storm shield.

Troops - Tac squad. 5x Tac marines, Lascannon, Razorback with twin linked assault cannon.

Troops - Tac Squad. 5x Tac marines, Lancannon, Razorback with twin linked assault cannon.

Heavy support - Predator. Twin linked lascannon. Lascannon side sponsons.

So, what do you think?

when is the tournament taking place? Just curious, because I don't know when the codex is coming out, or when you will be able to get your hands on it, but again, that is really your information.

The codex is officially released on Saturday. I have one pre ordered. And I have already seen most of it. I have most definitely seen everything I need to regarding the units on this lost. The tournament is 30th of may.

Your friend wants either Plasma or Melta in those TAC squads, unless he enjoys Snap Shooting

One of each should do fine. I'd also change the Razorbacks to Rhinos if they are being primarily used as a transport service.

I'd drop all the Librarian armour, keep him as cheap as possible, or else it will get focused down.

With those points saved, it's enough for a 5 man unit of Bikes w/ 2x Grav, which will really help with 2+ armour.

Shall reserve judgment on Eldar until I've seen the Codex for myself but looks solid enough.

Well the idea of the two tac squads is to sit on back field objectives. As for razorback, a cheap objective secured platform with TL assault cannons on top is incredible. I've run them before, as has he, with immense success. Normally run them empty.

He does have minor issues with models avaliable. As for the libby.... I think term armour is too much. Along with the shield. But it's the model he has available (and it is a pretty model too). And to be fair, as he's kind of a battery for the seer I do want him to stay alive as long as possible, and that certainly helps on that front.

Drop off the two lascannons on the Tac marines, take a melta and a melta bomb. Then take the extra points and swap our that crappy thunderhammer for the Mindforge Stave relic. Its a thunderhammer thats force! Way better and cooler looking on your libby

Thunder hammer? What thunder hammer? And why melta if you don't mind me asking? It's a much shorter range for a back field objective camper.
