Do we have the Technology
No those egg heads forgot to design engines to go in reverse
Yes absolutely why couldn't they
In the grimdark future there is no going back, only into the uncertain future(including Skimmers)

In the high technology of the 41st millennium all of the builders forgot to give vehicles the ability to go in reverse.

I want to know if there are any rules against vehicles going in reverse (specifically not sideways as many are on the ground and don't float I'm looking at you Elderp and Tau)
For example could that Leman Russ tank there back it up to avoid a charge? Could that Wave serpent go back to back with that other one to deny rear armor (still limit your shooting arc though)? Could those Killa Kans go back to back to back to guard their rear armor from shots? Could two Battle Waggons go back to back up the board to deny rear armor?

Are there any rules against this? If not how do you guys feel about it?
Also skimmers can go in any direction facing any way right?

If you don't have the time or even if you do to comment just cast a vote.
Thanks!

There's nothing that stops you from going in any direction.

Not only that, they can drift sideways if they like.

Vehicles can turn any number of times as they move.
Vehicles turn by pivoting on the spot.
Pivoting on the spot does not count as moving.

This mean any vehicle, even tank tread ones, can move in any direction and end that move facing any direction even if you only have them move 'forward'. Take a land raider for example, it could pivot 90 degree to its right then move 6 inches, then pivot 90 degrees to the left. From the players perceptive it will have slid 6 inches to is right. A Leman Russ tank could pivot 180 degree, move 6 inches then pivot another 180 degrees. Again it would appear to have reversed while actually having gone forward.

Add that to the fact there is nothing requiring vehicle to actually go forward and you have a very solid foundation for just about any vehicle movement out there.

Thanks for the response it has come up a few times in games I play with a couple people who are always like "you can't do that it makes no sense how could a vehicle do that?" I am not one to argue without solid knowledge so thanks!

As Jimsolo said, you don't even have to turn, move, turn. You could just move your tank crab-style. Or even upside-down lol.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say they had to turn move turn. They are completely allowed to 'crab walk' or throw it in reverse. All I was trying to illustrate that you could technically do all those movement while only moving 'forward'. So the next time you get into a situation where some one says 'that doesn't make sense' you can appease them with turn move turn.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say they had to turn move turn.

Wasn't implying that. Merely emphasizing the liberties you have while moving
