Interested on peoples opinions and experiences on the most powerful 40k lists currently, built from the following conditions;
1. Single Detachment
2. Single Codex
3. 40k only units (no 30K)
4. Non-Forgeworld
Everyone at my local gaming group are discussing Draigo CentStar and Daemon's lists similar to Nick Nanavati

Unless ranged D is banned the above lists are valid.
But the whole "Lets let eldar fir 17 D weapons in a decurion formation" thing makes things a little rough.

Yeah, so you guys keep listing multi-codex builds despite the OP's request... like Draigo + cents or the bike star.
In a few days, I'm pretty sure the answer is some sort of Eldar thing.

I was initially confused and thought he meant 1 codex army + 1 (other) detachment.
But my answer is Eldar Warhost.

Eldar Warhost I think.
Adlance will be tabled by scatbikes spam. Even 20 bikes will strip 35,5 hp from IK's rear armour without invul, 23.7 with invul and 15.7 with rerollable invul. Will strip 17.7 HP from side armour without invul, 11.8 with invul and 7.7 with rerollable invuls. So even with battle losses scatterbikes can wreck 1-2 IKs per turn.
Necrons harvest is still pretty strong aspecially when they securing objectives, you just can't beat them out of it in time.

Yeah. So 20 bikes shooting at invisible cent star = 80 * 1/6 * 2/3 * 1/6 wounds = Only 1-2 wounds. On the other hand, as eldar you probably generate enough charges to deny the invis. Then a couple D weapons will make short work of it. (or 6 wounds per turn from the scat bikes will also degrade cent star's effectiveness quickly.)

I'm not singling you out, but can everybody not use "Scatbike", because it sounds dumb, and all I can think of is a bike that's been repeatedly dipped in fecal matter. Just stop, please.
Instead, "Scatterbike", which IMO is also more descriptive, should be used.
Also, Scatterbike spam is probably going to be the #1 thing.

Why is only the 'scatbike' that annoys you? I used Ad Lance instead of Adamantium Lance formation; I used Tiggy instead of Tigurious (no idea how to spell his name).
I hipe that no one is going to be using Grav Cents instead of Gravity Cannon wielding Centurions with Gravity Amplifiers

I think the Hive Fleet Detachment is up there with Flyrants and Mucolids for cheap troops. Expensive yes, but mobility, Skyfire, Psychic Powers and dakka all add up to become very fearsome.
Best Codex and units...uh I reserve judgement until I've seen the new Eldar in action. Currently I would argue Necrons have the best Codex. Unit is harder, in a support role or offensive capabilities? Because Belakor and Thunderwolves are good, but in separate roles.
Forgeworld...there are good units but I think GW units take the prize.
Of course, this is all subject to LoW, Apocalypse and ranged Strength D being banned. If these are allowed, then Revenent's, Warhounds, and other Titans start occupying the top slots.
