Subject: [1500] - Space Marines - Undecided - choosing a counter-assault unit! Help!

Ok, got a local tournament coming up, and just looking for some opinions to help me make up my mind... I'm torn between these two options for a nice counter-assault unit. Please vote and help me choose! I'm looking for a good counter-assault unit for when I run into summoned demon or nid swarms. I'm not too worried about lots of anti-tank, seeing as the opponents will be primarily using Space Marines, Tyranids, Demons, and probably Tau:
1500 Points
Faction: Space Marines
Clan Raukaan Supplement
Chapter Tactics: Iron Hands
HQ
Chapter Master - artificer armor, bike, gorgon's chain, power fist, combi-grav
Troops
Scout Squad (5) - bolters, LSS w/ heavy flamer
Scout Squad (5) - bolters, LSS w/ heavy flamer
Tactical Squad (5) - melta, rhino
Bike Squad (5) - grav x2
Heavy
Fire Raptor - twin-linked autocannon x2
TFC
Option 1
Option 2

I think the knight and the extra TFC would be the best option. Terminators and LRR just seem far too risky, extra armour would help ensure them getting around a small amount I suppose though.
What's the point in the tactical squad? Just to get some more objec secure units on the board? You could always get rid of that and have the terminators in the LRR w/EA and an extra TFC.

Fair enough. So I could drop the Tac Squad and pick up the extra TFC and LRR w/extra armor and Terminators . Do you think that is stronger than taking the Knight ally then? If I just swapped the Tac Squad for the TFC in both cases, what would you suggest for the remaining points if taking the Knight? Maybe a Stormtalon to escort the Fire Raptor?

Go hard go home. Be risky. Take the terminators and place your trust in the dice gods. Just my thoughts.
Or if you don't want to play like this get the TFC and Knight
Cheers

I think both options have merit, I'd definitely get the second TFC in there though.
Having thought about it, If I had to pick one I would go with the LRR with terminators. Your opponents will have to deal with both them and the CM coming to wreck face, whilst being pummelled by 2 TFC. Should keep constant pressure on them.

Yeah, I guess I could combine the two ideas, but stick with the Terminators really. Something like this:
1500 Points
Faction: Space Marines
Clan Raukaan Supplement
Chapter Tactics: Iron Hands
HQ
Chapter Master - artificer armor, bike, gorgon's chain, power fist, combi-grav
Elites
Terminator Assault Squad (5) - TH/SS x5, LRR w/extra armor & multimelta
Troops
Scout Squad (5) - bolters, LSS w/ heavy flamer
Scout Squad (5) - bolters, LSS w/ heavy flamer
Bike Squad (5) - grav x2
Heavy
Fire Raptor - twin-linked autocannon x2
TFC
TFC

I like that list, should be really aggressive. Hope the tournament goes well!

Thanks! I'll run that then (funny how the poll is an even split lol I guess this may be the best of both worlds).
I was actually just thinking about an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor for that last 100 points (rather than the TFC)... I'm allowed one ally, so maybe it could work (since I've used it in larger games) but anyway the grenades (rad, psyk-out, and psychotroke) would really boost the Terminators... and the Liber Heresius could scout it up and grant counter attack after I wipe a unit and am in the open... thoughts on that?
It's tough bc the redundancy of the TFC I know is really great... perhaps I'll save the Inquisitor for a larger match.

Space Wolves are always a good option for counter-assault. With the Counter Attack rule, they all get an extra attack when charged, and you can add a CCW to GH (already have pistol). Just a thought.
With the list you put up though, I would definitely take the termies. However, I would throw 1 or 2 LCs in there for higher initative.

Hmm yeah, isn't there a formation with Arjac and some invindible Terminators..? How many points is that thing, and is it in the Space Wolves Codex? I don't have it, but it would be an interesting idea to ally-in.. probably wouldn't have enough time to get it prepared, but I'm just curious...

I believe it is in the Champions of Fenris supplement. But I think it is at least 275 pts or so. Pretty amazing.
