I was musing the other day on D weapons and the rest of the game when a thought occurred:
Why is there a cap on strength in the game?

My two suggestions:
Either a- Simply remove the strength cap. Its mostly good for assault anyways and we all know its not an assaulty editon.
OR b- anything that would be over S10 due to modifications becomes SD. ( don't like this one as much, but I thought I'd throw it out there).

How broken would this be guys?

It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

A LOT of Ork things would become a lot more interesting, thats for sure.

But, with that said, Any character or even standard unit that had S5+ and a Power fist or equivalent would be hitting at S10+ For instance, my Warboss would have a S11 PK on the turn he charged, does that mean my guy hits as hard as a titan?

Sure why not.

Apparently the orks can run motorcycles through a titans head so I leave the interpretation of how awesome you guys are to someone else.

I don't think anyone will like the SD thing, but I don't think they'd be as upset about S11+ ccw.

You know becasuse it arbitrarily stops there for some reason.

agree with that. I would like my characters to benefit from above S10. It would make peeling back armored vehicles just that little bit more reliable. AND it would make the Ork warlord trait where you gain +1 Strength make a bit more sense.

Personally, I don't get why things max out at 10. I'm guessing so that it's in a nice table, but the table is just a visualization of the following if statements:

To-Hit in Close Combat:
If WS(you) > WS(opp) = 3+
If WS (you) = to x2 WS(opp) = 4+
If WS(you) x2+1 WS(opp) = 5+

To-Hit in Shoowing:
6 - BS = # to hit + (cannot exceed 2+)

To-Wound:
S +2 or> T = 2+
S +1 T = 3+
S = T = 4+
S -1 T = 5+
S -2 T = 6+
S -3 T = 6+
S -4 or< T = impossible

None of these things are limited by a range of 1-10. If an Imperial Knight had S12, and it was attacking a vehicle with Armour Value 16, I could describe exactly how the attack happens.

Are you talking about just Str or all stats should have limits removed? If just Str had no limits then MCs got a huge power spike from Smash (makes sense since it smash got nerfed to only one attack)

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

In the days of yore, capping stats at 10 ensured that certain, expensive models, like Land Raiders, were resistant to even the most devastating attacks. You needed dedicated AT weapons to deal with them.

Since they've moved away from that, a Dread striking as a "D" attack would probably reduce the amazingness of "Knight" class models, which might hurt sales, so that's a no go.

Also, you'd just wind up with a million D-Class close combat attacks, without really changing shooting.

Well, since they have come out with Melta, Lance and haywire, not to mention the dozen other things that always glance on a 6, I think we have effectively reduced the resilience of LR type vehicles.
