Hi folks,

Just thought I'd share a small project I recently completed. I've always wanted a Pied Piper to act as my Skaven Battle Standard Bearer, and the Malifaux 'Avatar of Contagion' was the perfect model for this
Good fun to paint.

Interesting take on a Skaven BSB. It fits surprisingly well, for a human. Your freehand work is pretty admirable, too.

This is a really well executed idea and looks lovely as well. Nice touch with the rats at the base of the banner.

Thanks folks!

When I have some time I'll post an army pic with everything ranked up (don't actually have a heck of a lot of Skaven done yet).
I just thought it was something a bit different, which is always good. He looks mad enough to be leading a load of Skaven forward through a town.
By happy chance all my models so far have green stuff/cork cobblestone bases so it fits nicely!

Really nice work, Niall. The base work is very well done, and it took me a moment to figure out exactly how you fit it on the display base. It's also worth mentioning that the height of the piece is really a big component to making this work. Would love to see the BSB ranked-up in a block of Skaven for the full effect.

Love it! So simple, yet brilliant.

Hey there, here you go - not a great pic but you get the general idea
I'm actually due a big shot of the army soon so will need to sort it out. Although I've only got about 1000 points of models done haha (although that's actually about 100+ models haha)

Haha cheers - and great news of it serves to inspire anyone.
In all honesty I'm surprised I haven't seen other people do it before, it was just begging to be done! My painting is OK but I know there are freehanders out there who could do an incredible banner with a similar theme.

Awesome idea and great painting. PERSONALLY, I do not like having large rocks or terrain in a moving regiment, just looks weird. Might have been cool to have him standing on a giant pillar of rat swarms, but he is very well done as is. Congrats!

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

It looks awesome, but I'm more impressed with the idea itself!
