Even though college finals are breathing down my neck, I managed to throw together a small squad of scout cultists for my Alpha Legion, which is being renewed / painted for the Medusa V campaign. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself. Anyway, here's some blurry and not-so-blurry pics of the herd and its more converted members. I think they turned out pretty nice and tough-looking myself: The icon bearer is my favorite, and I think for once something on the chaos mutation sprue really fit in Also, for those interested I rounded up the rest of the 1000 point force for a happy group shot. Thanks for looking. - Boss Salvage

are those oldskool weapons you used?I cant seem to recognize them(unless they are Necromunda) Looks good and pretty stand alone too. Any fluff behind using goat-heads instead of 'humans'?

I used beastmen for my small scouty squad because: a) Beastmen skirmish in fantasy, so figure that translates to Move Through Terrain decently in 40k b) I use Slaaneshi daemons, and I figure not only are beastmen pretty chaotic and easily exist in the 40k universe (still looking for that imperial beastmen model myself), but the whole cow/bull = sex bit worked well enough c) I had a barely-opened box of beastmen lying around
So basically they have goat-heads cause they're beastmen that were bribed/coersed into Alpha Legion service. As to the weapons, the auto/laspistols are from the old close combat sprue - where the old powerfist was found - and I have no idea where the huge plasma pistol the runt has came from. As I recall, a friend gave it to me back when we were playing second edition. Rules-wise it's a laspistol because its powercore is pretty much drained dry at this point.
- Boss Salvage [EDIT] Fun fact: not only is Grom the icon bearer blurry from vibrating with the power of chaos, but he also has no nipples o_O

Maybe those vibrations have taken his nipples off!!
The Plasma Pistol ist an old Ork Plasma Pistol. The other guns are a laspistol (left) and an autopistol (right) from the old CC sprue.

the champions look cool, but you should make more than just use the beastmen bodys. why don't combine them with IG or Zombies

There are already a lot of kitbashes out there and to be honest they look like kitbashes.
The beastmen look pretty striking and unified. Zombie/beastman/IG would not.

The threadnomancy! I appreciate the compliments Thing but this thread is over 2 years old man
For the record, I tried out a paint scheme on one of them, hated it, then dropped the cultists all together and made my CSM DIY Undivided instead of Alpha Legion. And then AL went the way of all legions and cultists are no more :S

You and me both.
By the way, is two years the record for Threadnomancy?
I can't recall seeing one brought back from further that...
