The Mekboy Speedsta was an old vehicle from Epic Armageddon that was basically an Ork fast-tank, armed with a Kustom Kannon and some Powerfields to protect it from return fire. This basically is an idea to reimagine this vehicle akin to a mobile workstation/machine shop/mad science lair in a manner that would be better-fitting than the FW Junka rules.

The life of a Big Mek is an eternal struggle between enjoying a good scrap, or working on new killy weapons for said scraps. Some more inspired Meks decide to resolve the conflict of interest by bringing their workshops with them altogether! The Mekboy Speesta is best described as a workshop on wheels, where the Big Mek has the ability to field-test his new toys first-hand in the proving grounds of combat. Manned by a trusty crew of Grot retainers, this leaves the Mek free to direct repairs, or fight from the top of his own kustom platform.

A Big Mek may take a Mekboy Speedsta instead of a Warbike for +60 points. The Mek *may* still take Mega Armour, however.

BS 3, Armor: 13/12/10, HP 3.
Chariot, Open-Topped, Fast

Options:
May take a Power Booster for 20 points. Any weapons fired by the Mek or Wagon that use random Strength profiles roll an additional D6 and drop the lowest one.
May swap out any Kannon for any other Mek Gun type at costs based off the Mek Gun unit entry (ex +12 for a Mega Kannon, etc)
May take any upgrades from the Ork vehicle armory, except Deffrollas or Boarding Planks, at listed costs.

Special Rule:
Mobile Mekshop: Use the Speedsta model for measuring the effects of abilities that radiate from the Big Mek, including the KFF field, Mek Tools, etc. Furthermore, the Mek can benefit from bonuses that normally require him to be dismounted (whether it's a Warlord aura, or benefitting from a Promethium Relay), and the Speedsta can benefit from any Ammo Runts/the Gitfinda on the Big Mek. Note that if the SAG Mek rolls an 11, you move the entire Mek/Speedsta forward for assault, inflicting Hammer of Wrath hits as normal for a charging Chariot.

Designer's Note:
The Speedsta is BS 3 to indicate the gaggle of skilled (by Greenskin standards!) Grot gunners manning the Kannons themselves. The idea is to have a vehicle that can be "flexible" at a cost. On one hand, you can run it cheap-and-cheerful as a heavy/fragile Typhoon Speeder, or you can run it akin to an Orky Hammerhead. While you can attempt to combine it with Mega Armour for an Orky counterpart to a Command Barge, it's a *lot* easier to get the S8/AP 2 needed to instant-death out the Mekboy on top compared to the efforts needed to top off a Bargelord, and you are lacking a proper Jink Save.

I like it
But are there grot gunners for both kannons? in that case, shouldnt it just have BS 3 in its profile? since it can take no other weapons.
It would be a nice unit with power booster and a SAG, roll 3d6 for strength, discard the lowest

Let's just say the Grot Gunna is really skilled at shooting.

Technically the wagon can get a Stikkbomb Chukka, but making it BS 3 base would probably be simpler (One Mek commanding his assistant Grots to do things right). Standing still, the Kannons would fire at BS 4.

Being a chariot, you are paying a minimum of 95 pts for the combined profile. More if you deck out either the Wagon or the Mek.

Oh yeah, and this item would preclude a Warbike. Technically you could give the Mek Mega-Armor, making him a more fragile version of a Bargelord.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
PS: Would it be reasonable to make the Speedsta 13-12-10? 95 pts for a mini-hq predator, more expensive to tool out to be a real threat. Even with a 2+, he's still no Bargelord, and the Forcefields are pricey...

AV 13 isn't something Orks should have in large amounts. I mean, how could we be the shooting gallery army if the enemy shooting doesn't kill us?

I had an idea for a mobile repair unit which could be borrowed for this. Essentially all vehicles within 12" roll a d6 at the start of your turn. On a 1 they lose a hull point. On a 5+, if it is a friendly vehicle, it regains a hull point. Something like that. Wrecked vehicles are ressurected as looted wagons or some such on a 6.

Dakkamite: To be fair, this is basically a chariot option for an Ork HQ. It's not like it would be a common vehicle. At least, not as common as could be taken by running a Blitz Brigade, or more realistically (if you're doing Forgeworld) squadroning up Gunwagons.

Really, the only way you could truly consider this abuseable would be if you were to do something like combine it with Mogork's Bullyboyz. And even then, while 150 points to get a mobile SAG tank is decent, it's not like Orks get proper cover-ignoring weapons anyway...

I feel it could use some tweaks, but is in that realm of "powerful, but probably won't dethrone a Biker/Lucky Stikk Waaaghboss." And hey, giving Orks some ranged options outside of Heavy Support can't be a bad thing...

PS: I always felt that Mekboys should be allowed to attempt to repair wrecked vehicles, of any allegiance, and on a 5+, you remove the Mek to reanimate the vehicle with D3 HP remaining.
