Hey everyone,

Can a Chaos Lord take the Axe of Khorne without having to take terminator armor? Under the options section, the first thing it says, " the unit may take any items from the Melee Weapons..." One of the first things listed in the Melee Section is the Axe of Khorne. I interpret that as a Chaos Lord can take an Axe of Khorne without any restrictions other than point cost. However, later in the option listing, it notes that a model in terminator armor may replace a power weapon with an Axe of Khorne. I mention this because the Army Builder software, for list building, went with the later interpretation, I guess under the assumption that since the weapon is specifically listed as a replacement for a power weapon for terminators, it must the only condition for that unit in which the weapon can be used. What do you think?

If it is listed in the melee weapons table, as long as there are no restrictions on the table, then yes he can take one.

Most likely, the reason they have the option for terminator armour is so the Lord can still take one, presumably without access to the melee weapons table.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The reason it's listed for Terminator armour separately is because of the points discount from replacing a power weapon.

The option exists for both armour types and there is no restriction otherwise.

As above. There are a few problems with the 1.22 file currently, such as bike points costs, champion access to wargear, and the lack of detachments, so dont rely on it entirelY!

Yep - no army building software should be used as the only source of army selection. When in doubt, look at the actual codex entry first
