I could have sworn I made this account years ago, but it just refused to let me log in with it. Ah well, at least I got my handle ...

Hello all. Long time lurker, first (well, second, really) time poster. I'm what you might call one of those reeeeeeeeeeealy casual wargamers. I've had crap luck finding people to play with (and I'm a bit lazy), but I love the idea ...

I first started with BFG, and built up far too many Imperial star ships before I knew what I was doing. Classic example of me going nuts on a hobby for 6 months and then fading out. I still love the idea of BFG though, too bad they discontinued. I should've sold my Imps and gotten Tau models while I still could.

Which segues of course into 40k. I've got a couple thousand points of Tau laying around the house too, though I haven't played any since 5th. 6th was interesting, but the local FLGS closes too early to provide me good gaming time after I get out of work, and the model prices are getting a little out of hand. Which is sad, since I love the new stuff, but I don't want to have to dish out another 500 bucks to fill in some of the holes in my list ... One of these days the lottery gods will figure it out and see fit to bless me.

These days I mostly read up and enjoy the artwork. The books don't generally get me in trouble since I do read them from time to time ...

G'day mate,

Always nice seeing more people here on Dakka! I used to play Tau once upon a time, loved the look of them. By the sounds of your BFG passion, space combat news might be of interest to you. There have actually been a whole bunch of space releases just recently. There are some pics of the new Battlestar Galactica things, along with a 28mm battle of Hoth on the previous page, here:

And if you're a Halo fan, a great new set of models have just been shown, link here:

Really nice having you no longer as a lurker, it took a while for me to stop being one too, but you get used to the glory that is Dakka account user pretty fast.
All the best,
ONI

I'd been debating looking into a new space game, though I wasn't sure there was likely to be anything played enough to be worth getting into... Thanks for the heads up!

I've been aware of Halo (hard not to be ... ), but I've always been more of a PC gamer, so never really played it. Some pretty nice models in there though.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
