Playing with an idea for a list. My group doesn't play ultra-competetive, but a few guys have pretty tough lists.


Space Marines / Iron Hands CT

Points total: 1500 points


Chapter Master and Inquisitor go with the Honour Guard inside the Land Raider and charge the toughest units.
Sniper Scouts sit on an objective. Tac Squad goes objective grabbing and blowing up tanks. Shotgun Scouts go objective grabbing.
Stormtalons and Deredeo for AA, glancing vehicles/hurting MCs and decimating infantry.

Any thoughts and/or suggestions for this list?

This list looks nice. I don't like sniper Scouts, so I'd try really hard to find the points for another LSS unit (maybe drop the Psyker Level 1 upgrade?). I think the list has great potential and I really wouldn't change much. I like the rad grenades on the Inquisitor if with terminators... to double out T5 stuff... but since you don't have a lot of S8 in there, I'd switch it for the Liber Heresius for the benefits it grants. It's a very versatile relic that can help you scout move the LRC, get counter attack, etc. Don't forget he also comes with psyk-out grenades which are good! I would also consider trading the MM on the LRC for extra armor... getting stunned really sucks, plus you'll be moving a bunch and probably only get to fire it once (effectively) per game... not really that worth it IMO. You could also consider downgrading to the LRR for the AP3 flamers... it's great to clear an objective in cover and saves you a few points.

Looks really good overall though!

I always take a squad of Sniper Scouts to sit on a backfield objective.
The Inquisitor has Psyker level 1 for Hammerhand (+1 S). Rad Grenades give -1 T for the enemy, in combination with Hammerhand and Power Axes / Mauls and the Chapter Masters Thunder Hammer, I think that's pretty good. Though the Liber Heresius is good, the Scout rule doesn't work any longer with the Land Raider because it's not a dedicated transport, or did I get that wrong?
You're probably right about the MM on the Landraider, maybe I drop it and downgrade to a LRR and take the Liber Heresius anyway.

Hmm yeah, I usually take Terminators in the Land Raider so I guess I never ran into that problem. Fair enough
