Eldar players can do what ever they like with there new codex, you do not need wraith to have a good game unless you like wraith and want to take wraith.
But with this list i should get a good game!

Heads up the Iyanden book works with Codex: Eldar not Codex Eldar: Craftworlds so is no longer current.

Not convinced the Warlocks are necessary in the units, but you should go all cannons on them.

Bright lances and cannons aren't a great mix on the Vipers as they have different targets. Just go all Shuriken or shuricannon & star cannon.

Aspect Host should go all shooty or all assaulty. You're mostly shoot at the moment and Banshees will struggle with no cc target saturation and no transport for turn 1 assault (Raider is great for this). Neither the firepike nor the Exarch are worth it, just get a 6th Fragon if you want more firepower in the unit. The 18" range is useless without splifire as you'll position the unit for the 12" range of the rest of other unit. Power weapon on a S3 Exarch in a unit that never wants to see combat except against vehicles is also not remotely worth it.

A Falcon is never going to be worth 165 points. Keep it cheap. Though a Brightlance dovetails better with Pulse laser than the Scatter does.

If you're gaming group is fine with that house rule that's cool, it was just a heads up. No need for all the aggression.

It is a house rule purchasing out of date rules doesn't make them in date. You may want to use them and if your opponent is OK with that then that's cool. Just don't expect everyone to be and your attitude won't endear you to them to help win them over to playing by your house rule.

Let's say we were playing a 1850 point battle and I plonked 6 Imperial Knights and a Reaver Titan down as my army. You quite rightly point out it is illegal as that totals double our agreed points value to which I respond "I bought them, I'll use them". How do you feel then? How willing are you to continue with the game? Are willing are you to play me again?

You see when you play a game of Warhammer you engage in a social contract. If you flagrantly abuse that contract and arrogantly expect people to play by your rules rather than the 40k rules you will damage that interaction for your opponent. Denying them a chance for fun and soon you'll discover people won't want to play you.

I'm going to use the rules for D weapons from Escalation with my Eldar, So no saves of any kind can be taken against them. After all, I bought the rules, so I'll use them, and that's that my friend!

@flingitnow. I'm curious why you always tell people to field more bikes and wraith.

1) not everyone plays that way.
2) would it really be much fun if EVERY Eldar player is fielding the same damn army.

I for one Like seeing different lists. Especially if they follow fluff. If it's competitive then sure be like every other Eldar player (boring).

Where, anywhere, on flingitnow's suggestions or posts has he ever said more bikes and more wraiths? There's suggestions for the current bikes, for the vypers, for the aspect host and for the falcon. Not once did he suggest more bikes and more wraith.

@OP. Whether you throw a hissy fit or not, he's right. The iyanden supplement is from 2013 and is a supplement for the old eldar codex. It is no longer relevant, or strictly a legal choice. I have the book too, it's on the shelf now. If you gaming friends are OK with you using it, then that's a different matter and go for it. But be under no illusion, this is most definitely a house rule.

Also, he gave you a heads up. He wasn't rude about it, it was an FYI. There was no need whatsoever for your hostile response. The 40K community is quite a small one, if you want people to help you I'd suggest a change in attitude.

I'll look for his replies again. If I'm wrong I apologize but I'm pretty sure in a few army list threads your recommending more bikes and wraith units. I'm not being specific as too how you worded your response. But that's your general advise. So was asking why

@kaine's wrath. I wasn't referring to his current response. It was a question for him, not you on some other army list threads he has posted on. This thread is the first one he actually hasn't said more bikes/wraith units.

Well if you're posting on here you're after advice to improve your list. The advice I give will improve the list that I advise. The advice I give is to improve the list to a competitive level. However it is based on the core of the list provided. So that advice normally just takes what is there and builds on it or explains what weak choices they've made and advises a complete rewrite for competitive play in which case I normally ask what type of list they are looking to do. Only if someone is already going down the Bikes and Wraiths road do I advise more Bikes & Wraiths... Heck I've posted lists with no wraiths and very few bikes, I think I'm yet to post a list with any Wraithguard in it.

But if you are asking for advice to improve your list I will give that advice. At what point should I stop? Should I refrain from giving advice because it will make someone's list too powerful? How do I judge advice that is too good?

apologies for the delay in replying I have been waiting for a answer from our games designers.

The Supplement Ilyanden was meant to go with the Older Eldar Codex and thus was not really designed for the new codex.

However feel free to adapt the rules if you wish in order to keep using it in games.

So you're saying it is a house rule...

And why not post in the threads in question then? Why attack him here when he has made no mention of bikes and wraiths?

Flingitnow has some of the best eldar advice on the forum. It'd be wise to not make an enemy of him. He has helped me on several occasions. And 99% of his advice has helped my games. Take it or leave it.

I don't understand how he's running the iyanden book anyway. It says in the book itself that if you choose relics from the supplement you may not choose relics from the vault of treasures..... And yet he has the shard of anris on his seer.

On top of which.... Is the book worth it for a single relic? A wraith host gives you the same options but arguably better (ya'know cos iyanden has wraiths. Whether you like it or not.) and a wraith host within a war host is nigh unstoppable.

exactly is it worth soo much trouble over a single relic...if my aponent told me they wouldnt let me use ilyanden i would find anew aponent any way because any game is going to filled with his whiny voice balling at the top of his lungs "the eldar are Op, wah i cant i cant win wah wah wah!"

@flingitnow thanks. That's what I was wondering.

@kaine's wrath. Asking a question is not attacking him. And I asked in this thread because I just happened to be reading this one at the time. And as for advice I don't need any to run my eldar. I'm not judging others that do though.

Playing the game via its rules is pretty basic stuff bud. Not only are you using an out of date codex but you are using it illegally even if it were in date.. Play the game how its supposed to be played.
