I am just beginning to eye my secondary army, being Orks. I love converting and the absurdity of Orks, so the Deathskulls appeal to me.

In the fluff, the Deathskulls loot everything, even enemy vehicles. My question is (and I'm sure it has been asked before), are looted vehicles/models accepted in game?

For example, a rhino that has been orked up as a trukk. A looted dreadnought as a deff dread. Orky Eldar jetbikes as deffkoptas. Heck, a flyrant-riding ork as a dakkajet (maybe too crazy). The possibilities are endless, and I find them exciting and hilarious.

I'm not without reason - size and base sizes matter. But how does the community accept players who field a fluffy army of looted equipment, as long as the models were explicitly declared?

Accept? Orks are practically suppose to loot everything

And that's exactly my thought. My research into the subject turned up mixed answers, especially in recent years. In the older editions, it seems like looted models were the standard. Now, not so much.

hmm... thats depends how you field them.
are they:
-counts as their original model (most people wont alow you to field another codex units without going through allies and the allies matrix)
-counts as the looted wagon (its good, the looted wagon from the white dwarf exclusive can be built from anything)
-counts as another model in the ork codex (porbably good too. my local gameing group accepts such things as long as its in reason, like are they comparable in size?)

one of my conversions of a morkanaut is a devilfish stacked ontop a chimera, check my gallery for the pic.

I'm specifically asking about ork codex models - looted wagon included.

As long as its not too far off the official model in proportions, its fine.

I have a looted deffdread, (whatever the space marine flying goldfish is supposed to be) turned into a dakka jet, and a drop-pod turned truck in my kit.
and eventually plan on making a second stompa out of various and sundry toy vehicles.

Rule of cool, man. As long as you're looting it because it looks sweet, and it more or less approximated the size and shape of what it's supposed to be, who would complain?

geargutz that Morkanaut (or possibly Gorkanaut) is friggin sweet dude. Mad props.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

rule of cool. I have never seen anyone have an issue with ork looted <whatever> in 10 or so years of gaming...

Loot it and loot it good. Personally, I have a looted vehicle from nearly every faction. Basic rule i use is foot print. If its trukk size, its a trukk. Battlewagon is Battlewagon. If you use the looted wagon rules, I guess either rhino size or leman russ size. FW used a rhino for theirs. GW used a leman russ. But it is really what every want man. I've even got some model jet from WW2 that I use as an Attack fighta. It has the same wing span and length as the dakka jet.

Why is there no "Even more than official models"?

Ork conversions may be half of the awesomeness that is this game!

As long as it's fairly clear what each is, I've never known anyone care, I know a guy who has looted every transport in the game for his orks, including a carnifex as a deff dread, and terminator meganobs

I've seen tyranids looted as a dreadmob, so looting a vehicle as a vehicle is entirely fine, and if the opponent complains then they're not imaginative enough to truly appreciate the game.

My first ork conversion was a metal space marine dreadnaught, which I turned into a warbuggy. everything can become anything, and there is no ork model that cannot be made from enough trukk kits.

Awesome. I appreciate the feedback guys. After seeing conflicting opinions elsewhere, I just wanted to get a handle on how the community felt about it.

I'm really looking forward to looting! Just need to practice with green stuff.

You aren't a true ork player if everything you field came off an ork sprue.

So much this^

It is good to try and *approximate* the right size. Which I use in the loosest possible sense of the word. If you use a looted monolith and someone cries, screw em!

Worse case use allies mate.

A friend of mine is an Ork player, but wants to try out other armies. Hence his "T'Orks". They look great - essentially mind controlled orks in tau gear, long strike in a flying copter battle wagon....

100000% this. Any time I have spare parts that I definitely don't need for anything, I give them all to an ork friend. Even little stuff, like I don't like smoke launchers modeled on the vehicle, so all his bikes go faster now because they can shoot smoke out the back!

Before the Battlewagon came out, I bought a Baneblade just to loot it! I really Orkified it too, with extra armour panels, exposed Orks, Orks firing rocket launchas from converted Deffkoptas. Now dat's a propa wagon!

But yes, it should be similar in size, but so long as your opponent is fine with it, anything goes really. My Battlewagon is bigger than it should be, but I've heard approximately 0 complaints ever. If anything, players prefer it!
