I'm getting ready to host a new escalation league at my local gaming shop. I've had numors players ask for some restrictions to help medigate the Eldar. I've decided to limit the number of LoW that can be in an army, not by slot, but actually battle field role. This way even if they are part of a formation, they still fall into that restrictions. The next is the question about STR D weapons. I've consider for our lower point games that STR D would not be allowed. Before the LoW become available to players, i'm allowing STR D limited 1 weapon per army. Now not every army has a STR D weapon. So for the event, i was thinking about making special upgrade for specific units to have a STR D weapon. For example Space marine non-named character can buy a vortex grenade for 25pts.

Thoughts?

Armies:
The Iron Waagh: 10,000+ 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-7-1

Armored Battle Company (DKoK): 4000
Elysians: 500
Khorne Daemons: 2500

Escalation leagues are generally for newer players who are already overwhelmed with 40k's ruleset. You should be adding as little as possible in my experience - only the older players will be taking advantage of it.

What are the point levels you're doing?
