I'm looking at getting a handful of the skitarii models from my local store as I love the sculpts, but can't decide on a paint scheme for them. It'll likely be 2 or 3 squads fighting alongside my DA, so keep that in mind. Right now, I'm liking two of the paint schemes in the codex, but am open to other ideas. The two I'm looking at are Stygies and Metalica, shown below, but might do a cross between the two (Metalica with more red and some black added) or a totally custom scheme if anyone can think of anything particularly cool.

Stygies VIII

Metalica

Brighter is always better, takes a bit more effort to pull off (in my opinion) but the rewards are greater when complete.

My vote is Metallic option.

The white/ red will be much, much harder, but will look better.

I voted stygies. mostly cause good looking white is such a pain

Everyone is going to have red.

Go black and blue. Basically replace the red with a real nice vibrant blue.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Red. Because AdMech should be red.

Black is quite difficult to pull right, too

At this point, it's safe to assume there's no "easy" AdMech paint scheme.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Metalica

I'm going the Metalica scheme, so I voted for them.

You could have your own minor Forgeworld too. It was probably just lost and forgotten a few thousand years ago.

Stygies VIII has interesting lore and that's what I used to to decide on my colors.

You could always do a minor forgeworld that's close with the DA and shares some colors.

To be fair, I'm really used to painting things black since I have to do a lot of ravenwing, whereas the closest I've done to pure white is deathwing.

Looking at the vote though I might end up doing the white despite my fears of bad painting, although I may throw some green on the shoulders or something to match my DA, or green trim on the robe.

I was going to do Agrippina personally, but the more I look at Stygies VIII--the more I like it.

Also, be aware that the copy of Warhammer Visions coming out soon is supposed to have step-by-steps for painting Metalica's Skitarii Legions.

I have painted mine the traditional Mars scheme, (evil suns red) but with red on the inside of the coat also. Armour I do with Eshin Gray, lower legs Dawnstone. The grays I drybrush with Dawnbreaker then I drybrush Brass Scorpion on the whole model.
My Ironstriders are the same way but with Methphiston Red on them.

Oh, are the Mars ones supposed to be evil suns red? I assumed they were Mephiston, but I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between the two as I use mephiston for all the stuff I need to paint red (which is mostly just bolters).

I Basecoated Mephistion red, then layered evil suns scarlett.
